Trump Blames Reiner Deaths on ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’

As a huge movie fan, I was really shocked to hear about Rob Reiner and his wife passing away. Then, I saw that President Trump commented on it through Truth Social, and honestly, it was upsetting. He called it a “very sad thing,” but then immediately blamed Reiner himself, claiming his strong opposition to Trump – which he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” – somehow caused this tragedy. It felt incredibly insensitive and just added to the sadness of the whole situation.

On December 15th, shortly after Rob Reiner and his wife’s bodies were discovered, Donald Trump mentioned them in a post on Truth Social. He described Rob as someone who was “tortured and struggling,” while also acknowledging his past success as a movie director and comedian. However, Trump quickly shifted focus to express his belief that Rob suffers from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

The President stated that Rob and Michele died because of the intense anger Rob had provoked due to his extreme and consuming obsession with opposing former President Trump. He claimed this obsession drove people to the point of madness.

Trump also remarked that Rob’s “illness” coincided with his administration achieving unprecedented success, exceeding all expectations. He declared that America is entering a “Golden Age” and concluded with a somber message, “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”

Director Rob Reiner has consistently criticized Donald Trump since he first took office. Back in 2017, he told Variety that Trump was “mentally unfit” to lead the country. More recently, in an October interview with MS NOW, Reiner cautioned that the U.S. had about a year before it could potentially become a fully autocratic nation, according to CNBC.

Trump’s comments about the Reiners’ deaths drew swift criticism from many, including Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. Greene previously supported President Trump but recently announced she would be leaving Congress.

Rob Reiner and his wife were victims of a terrible tragedy, killed by their son who struggled with drug addiction and other personal challenges. Their other children are understandably devastated. This is a heartbreaking family matter, not a result of political conflict. Many families face similar struggles with addiction and mental health, and these situations are incredibly difficult. It’s important to approach them with compassion, especially when they lead to such tragic outcomes.

According to PEOPLE magazine, firefighters in Los Angeles were called to a home on Sunday, December 14th, around 3:30 p.m. and discovered a man and woman who had died. The victims were later identified as Rob and Michele Reiner, ages 78 and 68 respectively.

According to The New York Times, the Reiners were found stabbed to death, and authorities are investigating it as a homicide. PEOPLE magazine reported that their daughter, Romy, discovered the bodies.

Nick Reiner, the son of Rob and Michele, has been arrested and is currently being held on $4 million bail in connection with the incident, according to jail records.

Nick has struggled with drug addiction for most of his life. According to PEOPLE magazine, he’s been to rehab over a dozen times since he was a teenager, and has also experienced homelessness. His experiences with addiction were portrayed in the 2015 film Being Charlie, which was directed by his father.

Rob Reiner, a director nominated for an Academy Award, is famous for popular and well-received films like Stand by Me, Misery, and A Few Good Men. He met photographer Michele while working on his 1989 film, When Harry Met Sally….
