I was so excited to finally see the newest Tron movie, Tron: Ares, when it came out earlier this year! It’s the third film in the series and really dives deeper into the story. It focuses on Ares (played by Jared Leto), this incredible AI who somehow breaks out of the digital world and into our own! If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, or if you’re like me and loved it and want to own it, you can now pre-order the Blu-ray! It comes out on January 6, 2026. They’re releasing it in a bunch of different ways – there’s even a limited edition steelbook version on Amazon for $45, which I already preordered! You can also get the standard 4K Blu-ray, regular Blu-ray, or DVD.

Despite being released earlier this year, the movie Tron: Ares wasn’t a commercial success, earning just $142 million globally and receiving mixed reviews from critics. While audiences have been more positive, the film didn’t reach the popularity of the original Tron or Tron: Legacy. However, many appreciate its ambition in expanding the franchise’s ideas and its powerful soundtrack by Nine Inch Nails. Tron: Ares differs from previous films by exploring what happens when the digital world of the Grid begins to merge with our own. The story focuses on Ares, an advanced AI program, and depicts the initial encounter between humans and digital artificial intelligence.
The classic Tron films have been updated with a beautiful 4K restoration for the first time. Both Tron and Tron: Legacy include fresh cover art, and retain all the bonus features fans loved from the Blu-ray versions. You can still find the Tron: Legacy steelbook edition at Walmart, and Amazon is selling a standard 4K Blu-ray version with the new artwork and the ability to play it on any region’s player.
