A disagreement between two New York City jewelry businesses, TraxNYC and Akay Diamonds, turned violent at the start of the new year, leading to police intervention and arrests. The incident quickly spread online, becoming a major trend on social media.
The issue began when Maksud Agadjani, the owner of TraxNYC, accused Akay Diamonds of selling jewelry while falsely claiming it was from TraxNYC and of inaccurately stating the items’ worth.
Although these reports haven’t been officially confirmed, it’s known that the disagreement ended in a physical fight at Akay Diamonds’ booth in New York’s Diamond District.
Who are TraxNYC and Akay Diamonds
TraxNYC is a popular jewelry brand located in Manhattan, known for its strong social media presence – they have over 3 million followers on Instagram. The founder, Agadjani, often shares a look behind the scenes of the jewelry business.
Akay Diamonds is a well-known jewelry store in the Diamond District, owned and operated by brothers George and Freddy Akay. It’s located in the same area as TraxNYC.
How the dispute began
Agadjani publicly claimed that Akay Diamonds was selling misrepresented jewelry. He specifically stated, in a video posted on January 1, 2026, that items sold under the TraxNYC brand didn’t contain the amount of gold advertised.

Agadjani posted a follow-up video on January 2nd, alleging that Akay misrepresented himself as Agadjani and defrauded a customer by selling a 9-carat bracelet while charging the price of a 14-carat one.
The customer explained that Akay tried to sell a product as if he were from TraxNYC, claiming he didn’t have the ring in stock.
Agadjani interrupted, stating, “He claimed he was out of options, despite having no connection to me other than taking my clients.”

Physical confrontation and police response
Later that day, Agadjani visited the Akay Diamonds booth to directly confront the owners. Video footage showed a tense argument escalating into a physical fight involving several people.

Police in New York arrested George and Freddy Akay after an incident, charging them with assault, as reported by The New York Post. The victim, Agadjani, received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the altercation.
Videos of the arrests quickly spread online. So far, police haven’t filed any fraud charges related to the original disagreement between the businesses involved.
