Sideswipe was a classic Autobot from the original Transformers series, but the name has been reused for other characters over time. Now, a company is releasing a new version of the original Sideswipe, though it’s being sold under a different title.
Newage Toys is releasing a new action figure, the H71 Dick, which is heavily inspired by the original Sideswipe design. It will include Sideswipe’s classic weapons and vehicle form, plus extra accessories referencing his look from the original cartoon. Expected to be available next year, this figure should appeal to fans who want a toy that closely matches the animation.
Newage Toys Rolls Out a Legends Scale Take on G1 Sideswipe
I recently got my hands on H71 Dick, the latest version of Sideswipe from Newage Toys. It’s designed to be the same size as official “Legends Class” Transformers figures, but what really surprised me was how much detail they packed into the robot mode – it looks exactly like his classic design.
Like his previous form, this version transforms into a red Lamborghini Countach, though it’s an unlicensed copy. Despite that, the design is incredibly detailed, accurately capturing the car’s shape – it’s only missing the Lamborghini logo and the Autobot symbol. He comes with two sets of interchangeable hands, a blaster, and a missile launcher that attaches to his shoulder.
Sideswipe has more than just his standard weapons. Several additional ones have been taken from the original Generation 1 cartoon. He also includes a jetpack that can actually be used with Newage Toys’ Optimus Prime figure. Since most Autobots couldn’t fly on their own, this jetpack was a really helpful addition.
You can now pre-order the toy online for $83.99. It’s expected to ship in February 2026, so fans won’t have to wait long to get the newest figure from Newage Toys. Newage Toys is known for making figures that closely resemble the original G1 cartoon characters, but they also create some unique and original designs.
