A strange situation has unfolded in Creston, British Columbia: trees that are already dying were recently decorated for Christmas, despite ongoing concerns raised by local residents.
As soon as the holidays hit, everywhere you look just gets decked out, right? It’s cool seeing all the decorations go up. Some places have the same decorations year after year – it’s kinda become a tradition for them, and honestly, it’s awesome to see!
A Christmas mystery has emerged in Creston, British Columbia, Canada. The town recently had to remove ten trees from its downtown area after a sudden cold snap caused them to die.
Residents voiced concerns about the tree stumps left behind after the trees were cut down. Brandy Dyer, Creston’s communications lead, explained to CBC that they received some complaints on Facebook after the tree removal.
Trees mysteriously dressed up with Christmas decorations
Someone unexpectedly decorated trees with Christmas lights and Santa hats, spreading holiday cheer.
The mysterious stranger has yet to come forward, but it sparked the town to finish off the rest.
Dyer jokingly said that when faced with unwanted tree stumps, the solution is to decorate them with lights and embrace the holiday spirit. The town also expressed gratitude on Facebook to local businesses for doing just that, adding festive Christmas lights to the stumps.
I heard from Dyer that this whole thing with the tree stumps isn’t going to last. Apparently, they’re planning on replanting in the spring, and once those new trees grow, the stumps will be removed. So it’s just a temporary situation!
“To be honest, if there was stumps next year, we would probably decorate them again,” she admitted.
It’s not just those lawn decorations causing trouble up here in Canada, though! I heard about something crazy happening in Brantford, Ontario. Apparently, someone put up “Santa is Fake” signs during their Christmas parade, right where kids could see them! The police actually had to get involved, which is just… wow.
Even though it’s perfectly okay to not fully participate in holiday cheer, we hope everyone will show kindness and help create a friendly atmosphere, particularly during events like the Santa Claus Parade.
