Stoic announced today during the New Game+ Showcase 2026 that their game, Towerborne, is officially launching on February 26th. After being available in Early Access and as a Game Preview title, the ‘looter brawler’ RPG will now be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam). It will also be included with Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate.
So, the base game is going to cost $24.99, which is pretty standard. But if you want a little extra, there’s a Deluxe Edition for $29.99 that comes with some cool cosmetic items and materials to help with crafting. I’m leaning towards the Deluxe, honestly – I like having a head start and looking good while I play!
Towerborne started as a free-to-play game, but after entering early access on Steam in September 2024 and Xbox in April 2025, it will now be released as a one-time purchase. Players will be able to enjoy the game both offline and with online co-op.
The developers at Stoic recently shared details on Xbox Wire about how player feedback from the Early Access phase is shaping the final game, and what players can expect when the 1.0 version launches. We’ve included the full blog post and a video interview with the team below.
We at Stoic want to express our sincere gratitude to our incredible community for participating in the early access phase of Towerborne. Your feedback, passion, and dedication were invaluable, and truly helped shape the game into what it is today. Thank you to all of our Aces!
We’re thrilled to announce that Towerborne will officially launch on February 26, 2026, for Xbox, PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5! This launch comes with a big update – version 1.0 – that changes how you play and access the game. We’ve added tons of new content for our long-time players, and a warm welcome to everyone discovering Towerborne for the first time – let’s play!
A Reimagined Launch Experience
This update fundamentally changes Towerborne. It’s moving away from being a free game that requires a constant internet connection and becoming a one-time purchase you can play offline. You’ll own the complete game and can also enjoy online co-op with friends.
Honestly, rebuilding Towerborne was a massive undertaking over the last year. The original game was built assuming everyone was always online, so we had to completely rework a lot of the core systems. But it was worth it! The result is a much more solid, easier to pick up, and all-around better game, and we’re super excited to finally share it with you all.
What’s Coming in the Full Game Update on February 26, 2026
- A complete story & final showdown: We have an updated and complete story, a full narrative arc featuring a major antagonist, new side quests, and an overhauled Bounty Board.
- Who’s the boss?: we’ve added two new bosses, including the big bad boss (that would be the antagonist we mentioned), lieutenants, and umbra enemies.
- Fully reworked difficulty system: we’ve added an entirely new difficulty system, a complete rebalance of the game, and a new ‘Brutal’ difficulty for those who enjoy breaking controllers and swearing at their screens.
- Map it out: we’ve reworked and reimagined the World Map and added a new coastal biome.
- New Encounters & Combat Challenges: we’ve added new gear and player abilities, a new Forge system with the ability to modify, upgrade, and re-roll stats
- Is there more? Yes, there’s more! We have new music from the man/myth/maestro Austin Wintory, a bunch of quality of life and bug fixes, no more cosmetic purchasing – you can acquire all cosmetics free through gameplay, we added a TON of new cosmetics, and we’ve included multiple save slots and the ability to import your current character and associated loot.
This gives you a general idea of what to expect when the full version of Towerborne launches. This is a significant update for both the game and our community, and we’ve worked hard to include your feedback. We couldn’t have done it without your help and contributions, so thank you to everyone!
