2026 promises a lot of great television, especially for horror fans, with both returning favorites and brand new shows on the way. Last year, 2025, was also strong for the horror genre, delivering popular shows like Alien: Earth (which has been renewed for another season) and It: Welcome to Derry.
As a horror fan, 2025 was a great year for TV – we finally got the last season of Stranger Things, another season of the gripping The Last of Us, and the continuation of Yellowjackets. But honestly, 2026 is shaping up to be even better! There’s a ton of exciting new horror content coming out, alongside the return of some of our favorite shows, spread across all the different streaming services and networks.

Widow’s Bay is a horror series on Apple TV created by Katie Dippold. It stars Matthew Rhys as Tom Loftis, the mayor of a remote New England island with a dark secret. All of this makes Loftis’ job as mayor particularly tough.
Widow’s Bay is a new series blending supernatural horror, mystery, and compelling family drama, particularly focusing on the relationship between the character Loftis and his son. The show features Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kevin Caroll, Kingston Rumi Southwick, and Dale Dickey. It’s set to premiere on April 29, 2026, with the first three episodes available all at once, followed by weekly releases of subsequent episodes.
American Horror Story (Fox)
Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have created the popular horror series, American Horror Story, which will return for a 13th season in 2026. Each season of the show features a completely new story and explores different horror themes, often with a mix of familiar faces and new actors.

There’s a lot of buzz about season 13 of American Horror Story, largely because many original cast members are returning. Some fans think it might be a continuation of season 3, Coven.
Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat (AMC)
The Vampire Lestat is a horror TV series inspired by Anne Rice’s popular Vampire Chronicles novels. It’s the third season of Interview with the Vampire and centers around the captivating and perilous vampire, Lestat, played by Sam Reid.

Yellowjackets (Showtime)
Good news for fans of Yellowjackets: the fourth and final season is coming soon! The show is a gripping horror drama that follows a high school girls’ soccer team whose lives turned terrifying after a plane crash in the 1990s. Stranded in the wilderness, they were forced to make unimaginable choices, and over twenty years later, the consequences of that trauma still haunt them.
Critics and viewers alike have loved Yellowjackets for its intriguing mysteries, compelling drama, strong storytelling, and unique way of presenting events across two timelines – the past and the present. The show will conclude after its fourth season, set to air in 2026.

Rachel and Nicky face increasingly frightening and unsettling events leading up to their wedding, and as the title suggests, a terrible disaster strikes. Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen blends horror, mystery, and suspense, and is currently slated for release in 2026.
Crystal Lake (Peacock)
As a huge horror fan, I’m really excited about Crystal Lake, the new TV series! It’s a prequel to the original Friday the 13th movie, created by Brad Caleb Kane, and it’s going to show us the early lives of Pamela Voorhees – played by Linda Cardellini – and her son, Jason, who’s portrayed by Callum Vinson. Basically, it’s a chance to see what happened before the iconic slasher film, and how these characters became who they are.
The new film, Crystal Lake, will delve into the tragic events at the summer camp where Jason drowned – the incident that ultimately drove his mother, Pamela Voorhees, to seek revenge. While the movie will offer a fresh take on some aspects of the Friday the 13th series, its main focus will be understanding Pamela Voorhees and the motivations behind her actions.
Carrie (Prime Video)
In 2026, fans of Mike Flanagan can look forward to a new horror series based on Stephen King’s classic novel, Carrie. This show isn’t a direct adaptation, but a fresh take on the story of Carrie White (played by Summer H. Howell), a troubled teenager who faces bullying and discovers she has telekinetic powers.
Carrie faces relentless bullying at school and a difficult home life with her controlling, intensely religious, and abusive mother, Margaret. After a particularly harsh bullying incident, Carrie discovers she has telekinetic powers, and she tragically uses them with devastating consequences.
The story of Carrie is being adapted into a miniseries, aiming to cover the entire novel within a few episodes. While a specific date hasn’t been announced, it’s scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in 2026.
