Recently, the president shared another strange video created by AI. This one showed him flying a fighter jet and appearing to drop something onto a group of protesters called “No Kings.” While the video is clearly ridiculous, singer Kenny Loggins—whose song “Danger Zone” was featured in it—is particularly unimpressed.
Kenny Loggins wrote several popular songs in the 1980s, including the theme song for the Tom Cruise movie *Top Gun* and the hit from *Footloose*. After a video featuring his music went viral with Donald Trump, Loggins told Variety he wants the former president to stop using the song.
I did not authorize the use of my song ‘Danger Zone’ in this video. No one asked for my permission, and I would not have granted it. I request that my recording be removed immediately. I don’t want my music linked to content designed to create division.
It feels like a lot of forces are trying to divide us, so we need to focus on finding common ground. We’re all Americans who love this country, and we shouldn’t see each other as opponents. It’s about all of us working together, and I believe music can help us celebrate our unity and bring everyone together.
The White House doesn’t appear to be giving Loggins’ request much consideration. According to Variety, when asked for a comment, they simply replied with a meme from Top Gun, quoting the line, “I feel the need for speed.”
The ‘No Kings’ Protests Were Attended by 7 Million, Including Many Celebrities
Millions of Americans across the country gathered on Saturday to express their views on the current Trump administration. CNN reported over 7 million participants in the rallies, with a strong showing of celebrities including Glenn Close, Mark Ruffalo, and notably, Robert De Niro and Jimmy Kimmel. De Niro commented on the events, saying:
As a lifelong moviegoer, I’ve always been fascinated by stories of rebellion, and honestly, our own history feels like one of the greatest. It started 250 years ago when Americans decided they were done with being ruled by a king – King George III, to be specific. They fought for their freedom, for democracy, and we’ve been building on that – imperfectly, yes, but always striving – for two and a half centuries. Now, it feels like we have someone trying to recreate that old power dynamic, someone who wants to act like a king – Donald Trump. And frankly, I’m not having it. It feels like we’re being called to rise up again, but this time, our weapon is our voice – a nonviolent declaration that we still believe in the core principle: No Kings.
Ever since Donald Trump returned to the White House, dissatisfaction with his presidency has been growing. Recently, things have become particularly turbulent, with Trump sharing strange AI-generated videos, publicly arguing with ABC/Disney about bringing Jimmy Kimmel back to television, and now facing protests across the country. It’s hard to predict what will happen next.
