Top 3 Must-Watch Paramount+ Shows This Weekend: December 19–21, 2025

This month, Paramount+ is still the place to be for fans of Taylor Sheridan’s hit shows. But even if you’re not a fan, there’s plenty to watch – including several great series you can start and finish over the weekend.

This weekend (December 19–21, 2025), Ebaster recommends three must-watch shows on Paramount+. One is a popular, long-running crime thriller that’s currently gaining a lot of attention. It’s received perfect ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and is considered the best in its series so far.

Every Monday and Friday, we’ll share a fresh list of top series from Paramount+, as well as popular and highly-rated shows from Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, and Apple TV. Let’s start with the best shows currently available on Paramount+.

Dexter: Original Sin

Before the revival of the Dexter series with Dexter: Resurrection and Michael C. Hall’s return as Dexter Morgan, a prequel called Dexter: Original Sin came out, created by the same person behind the original show. Although Paramount surprisingly canceled it after initially ordering a second season, there’s now talk that season 2 of Original Sin might actually be made.

Beyond just being a new addition to the series, Dexter: Original Sin is a great show to watch on Paramount+ this weekend, especially if you’re new to the world of Dexter. If you’ve never seen the original Dexter series, consider starting with the 10 episodes of Original Sin first – it features excellent acting from Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater, and others.

Landman

The second season of Landman is nearing its end, with the sixth of ten episodes scheduled to launch on Sunday, December 21st. The show, created by Taylor Sheridan, continues to be a huge hit for Paramount+, especially in the United States. For over a month, Landman and South Park have been consistently battling for the top spot in U.S. streaming viewership.

As a movie and TV fanatic, I gotta say, Landman feels like Taylor Sheridan really poured his heart into this one. It’s a fascinating mix – you’ve got all this high-stakes corporate maneuvering in the oil industry, but it’s deeply connected to family, fatherhood, and the struggles within a marriage. Honestly, it gets a little over-the-top sometimes – a bit soapy, if you will – but even with those moments, it’s easily one of the best things Paramount+ has put out recently. It’s a guilty pleasure, but a really good one!

Mayor of Kingstown

Season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown is the strongest yet, taking Taylor Sheridan’s crime series to a new level thanks to the work of showrunner Dave Erickson. With a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s arguably the best crime drama currently available on streaming services.

Blending the crime-solving aspects of shows like Ray Donovan with the intense prison drama of Prison Break and Oz, Mayor of Kingstown is a cold and calculating series, much like the criminals and corrupt officials it portrays. The first three seasons are gritty, suspenseful, and occasionally funny, but season 4 elevates the show to a truly masterful crime epic.

If you’re excited for the new season like I am, I highly recommend that Paramount+ subscribers and fans of crime thrillers start watching Mayor of Kingstown right away. Binge-watching this weekend and next week will get you caught up before the season 4 finale airs on December 29th.
