Lots of popular TV shows will be returning in 2026 with fresh episodes, so now is a great time to catch up before they premiere. Unfortunately, as always, some shows have been canceled, including a few surprises. Notable cancellations this year include Dexter: Original Sin, The Wheel of Time, and Frasier.
While some shows are ending in 2026, many others have been picked up for more seasons, with some returning soon. Now’s a good time to finish up the shows ending in 2026 and to start or continue watching the ones that will be back for even more episodes.
The Boys (Season 5)
The popular action series The Boys, currently streaming on Prime Video, will conclude after its fifth season next year. Created by Eric Kripke and inspired by the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show explores a world where superheroes are real and live alongside ordinary people.
Superheroes are employed by Vought International, a company that profits from their fame and abilities. While the public sees them as heroes and celebrities, the truth is many are flawed – they’re often corrupt, self-centered, and irresponsible, with some being truly malicious. A group is determined to expose Vought and its heroes, and they’re willing to use any means necessary to achieve their goal.
Let me tell you, The Boys is a wild ride! It’s non-stop action, and definitely not for the faint of heart – it’s pretty graphic and violent. But it’s not just shock value; there’s a surprising amount of drama and dark humor mixed in, which I think is a big reason why both critics and regular viewers like me have loved it. The good news is, even though it’s ending, we’ll get one last season – it’s been renewed for a fifth and final run, expected to hit screens in 2026.
Euphoria (Season 3)
Fans have been waiting for a while, but the popular HBO series Euphoria is now expected to return for a third season in 2026. Created by Sam Levinson, the show is a teen drama inspired by an Israeli series of the same name. Euphoria explores the lives of California high school students as they navigate difficult issues like drugs, relationships, grief, and identity.
The HBO hit series Euphoria centers on Rue, a teenage girl played by Zendaya, who battles grief and addiction while trying to navigate life after rehab and find her place in the world. Though the show was renewed for a third season, production has been paused and delayed due to various issues.
While there’s no confirmed release date, Euphoria season 3 is currently anticipated to arrive in 2026. Production started in February 2025, after a significant delay.
Scrubs (Reboot)

As a huge fan of comedy, I absolutely loved Scrubs! It’s a hilarious medical sitcom created by Bill Lawrence. The show is set in the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital, and it really draws you in as you follow the everyday life of Dr. J.D. Dorian – played brilliantly by Zach Braff – and his best friend, Dr. Christopher Turk, portrayed by Donald Faison. It’s just a really fun, relatable look inside the world of medicine, but with a ton of laughs.
The popular medical comedy Scrubs originally aired for nine seasons and concluded in 2010. Now, the show is returning with a reboot scheduled to premiere on ABC on February 25, 2026. Several original cast members will reprise their roles, including J.D., Turk, Dr. Cox (John McGinley), and Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke).

Created by Alexi Hawley, The Rookie is a TV show about policing. It centers on John Nolan, a 40-year-old divorced man who decides to become a police officer after a life-changing event. He moves to Los Angeles, graduates from the police academy, and becomes the oldest rookie on the force.
Despite facing challenges, Nolan is committed to succeeding in his new job. The show The Rookie is highly enjoyable and perfect for watching all at once, and it’s been renewed for an eighth season. Fans can expect the new season to premiere on January 6, 2026.
Outlander (Season 8)
March 6, 2026
The hit fantasy series Outlander, created by Ronald D. Moore and adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s novels, will conclude in 2026. The show follows Claire Randall (played by Caitríona Balfe), a former British army nurse who finds herself in Scotland in 1945.
While on vacation in Scotland, Claire unexpectedly travels back in time to 1743. There, she encounters Jamie Fraser, a Highland warrior, and becomes involved with his community, ultimately falling in love with him. Over seven seasons, the show Outlander delves into themes of time travel, historical happenings, prejudice, sorrow, loss, and, above all, love.
The eighth and final season of Outlander, based on the book Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, will premiere on Starz on March 6, 2026.
Tell Me Lies (Season 3)
January 13, 2026
The TV drama Tell Me Lies will return next year. Created by Meaghan Oppenheimer and inspired by Carola Lovering’s 2018 novel, the series centers on Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen (Jackson White). They meet in college and begin a relationship that’s anything but simple.
The series Tell Me Lies depicts the complicated and damaging relationship between two people over eight years, and how it impacts those around them. It has been renewed for a third season, set to premiere on Hulu on January 13, 2206.
One Piece (Season 2)
March 10, 2026
Netflix has become known for hit TV series, and one of the latest is One Piece. Created by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, the show is adapted from Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga series that began in 1997. One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy, played by Iñaki Godoy, a young pirate who gained stretchy, rubber-like abilities after eating a special fruit called Devil Fruit.
Luffy and his pirate crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, are on a quest to find the “One Piece,” a famous treasure left behind by the late Pirate King, Gold Roger. Whoever finds it will become the next Pirate King. The first season of One Piece was very popular, and the second season will premiere on March 10, 2026.
Shrinking (Season 3)

Shrinking is a funny and heartwarming TV series on Apple TV created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein. The show centers around Jimmy Laird (played by Jason Segel), a therapist who is dealing with the loss of his wife. Overwhelmed by grief, Laird starts to cross professional boundaries and gets involved in the personal lives of those he’s treating.
Dr. Laird encourages his patients to improve their lives, and this method actually works – though he doesn’t share it with his coworkers. The show Shrinking has been widely praised for its thoughtful topics, clever writing, and funny moments, and a third season will premiere on January 28, 2026.
Bridgerton (Season 4)
January 29 and February 26, 2026
I’m a big fan of Bridgerton, so I was a little disappointed to hear they’re splitting the fourth season into two parts – it seems to be a trend Netflix is doing lately, and we won’t get the whole thing until 2026. But honestly, anything with the Bridgerton family is worth the wait! For those who don’t know, it’s a really fun historical romance, created by Chris Van Dusen and based on Julia Quinn’s books, that reimagines Regency-era London with a focus on the lives and loves of this noble family.
Bridgerton explores the loving relationships between the siblings as they each navigate their own journeys to find love and fulfillment—and plenty of scandal along the way. Each season centers on a different member of the Bridgerton family, which keeps the story interesting and new.
The fourth season of Bridgerton will be released in two parts. You can expect the first set of episodes on January 29, 2026, and the remaining episodes on February 26, 2026.
The Pitt (Season 2)
January 8, 2026
Premiering in 2025, The Pitt quickly became a hit, earning its place among the most popular medical dramas of recent years. Created by R. Scott Gemmill, the show follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (played by Noah Wyle) as he works in the busy emergency room of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.
Robby is already stressed from his job in the emergency room, and he’s also still processing difficult experiences from the COVID-19 pandemic. Good news for fans: The Pitt was quickly picked up for a second season, and it will be available on January 8, 2026, so the wait won’t be long!
