The team behind the Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis remake has shared some exciting new information about the game, and also discussed how it ties into another Tomb Raider project currently in development.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a complete reimagining of the first Tomb Raider game, created to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary. This new version introduces a fresh take on Lara Croft, and she’ll also be starring in a brand-new sequel, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, planned for release in 2027.
Crystal Dynamics recently shared some details about the upcoming Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, including how challenging it will be and how it relates to the new Tomb Raider TV series on Amazon. Studio Head Scot Amos and Game Director Will Kerslake revealed this information during a question-and-answer session.
There Could Be Two Lara Crofts In The Same Franchise

Amos and Kerslake have hinted at a possible connection between the Tomb Raider video games and the upcoming TV series, potentially creating a larger, interconnected franchise. This could lead to two different versions of Lara Croft existing simultaneously: Alix Wilton Regan will continue to portray her in certain games like Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst, while Sophie Turner, known for Game of Thrones, will play the character in the new TV show.
As a big Tomb Raider fan, I was a little worried about how ‘Legacy of Atlantis’ would feel compared to the originals. But I’m really relieved to hear from Amos and Kerslake that it’s going to be just as challenging! They’ve said the game will keep that classic, unforgiving difficulty we all remember, and the trailer they showed at The Game Awards definitely seemed to prove that.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis isn’t the first attempt to bring the classic Tomb Raider to newer consoles, but it appears to be the most refined version yet, boasting stunning graphics that are a huge improvement over the original PlayStation game. Fans are hoping this remake will recapture the magic of Lara Croft, who deserves a strong comeback after some disappointing entries in the series.
