Fans are one step closer to seeing Tom Selleck return as Frank Reagan in Blue Bloods. From the start, when the show debuted in 2011, it was clear Blue Bloods wasn’t a typical police drama. Instead, it focused on a family dedicated to public service, telling their stories through a procedural format. The show’s strong cast, led by Selleck as the head of the Reagan family, also contributed to its popularity.
When Blue Bloods ended in 2025-2026, its story continued with a new spinoff series called Boston Blue. Donnie Wahlberg reprises his role as Danny Reagan, but now he’s working as a police officer in Boston instead of New York, a change prompted by a health scare involving Sean. So far, Erin has made a guest appearance, and it’s expected that other family members will join the show as well.
Tom Selleck Signs With New Representation Indicating The Plan To Return To Acting

News recently surfaced that actor Tom Selleck has switched talent agencies, now being represented by United Talent Agency (UTA). He was previously with CAA, and also worked with Ziffren Brittenham LLP, N2N Entertainment, and Wolf-Kasteler Public Relationships – all of whom will continue to support his career. While actors change representation fairly often, this move is notable because it comes while Selleck is taking a break from acting, following the conclusion of the show Blue Bloods in 2024.
Selleck might be planning a return to acting or another role in the entertainment industry. While he could work as a director or in other production capacities, many fans would be thrilled to see him act again – especially if he reprises his popular role as Frank on Blue Bloods.
Boston Blue’s Renewal Offers More Time For A Frank Reagan Appearance
CBS
Shortly after Tom Selleck signed with UTA, CBS announced exciting news about the Blue Bloods universe. The new series, Boston Blue, has been renewed for a second season less than halfway through its first, which isn’t a huge surprise given its positive reception. This early renewal shows strong confidence in the show’s success.
Beyond that, the delay gives Mark Wahlberg and his team more opportunity to plan a guest appearance by Frank Reagan in Boston Blue. While fans would love to see any member of the Reagan family, there’s a particular excitement about seeing Tom Selleck reprise his role. The new show has already referenced him a few times, so having him actually appear feels like the natural next step.
