It’s no surprise the crowd went wild! With how beloved the Harry Potter series still is, those cheers were totally predictable. Plus, it was perfect that Tom Felton’s first line was his famous way of saying ‘Potter’ – a really nice moment bringing things full circle.

Now, he’s performing the part eight times a week on Broadway, showing us what the former villain is like as an adult and a father. Tom Felton reprising his role as Draco Malfoy is already generating excitement among fans, who are hoping it could lead to a movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child featuring the original cast. Several actors from the series are now old enough to play the adult versions of their characters. Although Warner Bros. hasn’t announced any plans for such a film, Felton’s return to the role on stage feels like a promising sign.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to hear that the Wizarding World is already working on a new TV series based on the Harry Potter books! From what I understand, they’re filming an HBO show right now that’s aiming to be a much more faithful adaptation – each book will get its own full season, which sounds amazing. It seems like that’s where most of the attention will be for a while, but honestly, I – like a lot of fans, I’m sure – am still hoping they’ll eventually make a Cursed Child movie, especially if Tom Felton and the original trio – Daniel, Emma, and Rupert – could come back to play their iconic characters!
While some fans believe Cursed Child would work better as a movie than a stage play, the only way to know for sure would be to see it adapted for the screen. Unfortunately, there’s currently no sign that Warner Bros. is planning to make a film version.
