The successful CBS police show has expanded into a whole franchise with several spin-offs. Now, another one is being developed, and Tom Ellis will be the lead actor.
The show was revealed a little while ago and began filming in September. Shortly after, two more main actors were cast. However, according to reports, Michael Michele has already left the series after only a few weeks of production.
As originally announced, Michele will play a CIA supervisor who will likely monitor the main characters, Ellis and Gehlfuss, throughout the series.
The role Michele left will be recast, but no new actor has been chosen yet. She left the project soon after filming began in September, and the series is now expected to premiere mid-season.
I was so excited when CBS greenlit the show in April 2025! It’s had a bit of a rocky road, though. Originally, it was supposed to premiere earlier, but it was moved to midseason after a delay caused by a change in showrunners. David Hudgins, who runs FBI: Most Wanted, was initially set to lead the project and even write the first episode with Dick Wolf, the big name behind the FBI, Law & Order, and Chicago shows. But he ended up leaving, and they brought in Warren Leight, another experienced showrunner from the Law & Order world – he used to run Law & Order: SVU. It’s still happening, and I’m really looking forward to it!
Originally, the idea was to gradually introduce Tom Ellis’ character, along with Michele’s and Gelfuss’, on the main FBI show. However, due to problems finding the right actors, the launch kept getting delayed, and ultimately, the show became its own separate series right from the start.
