Actor Vince Vaughn is set to team up with Shane Gillis in their upcoming Netflix comedy series titled “Tires.” Alongside Vaughn, other guest stars for Season 2 include Ron White, Jon Lovitz, Veronika Slowikowska, and Steph Tolev. Earlier announcements revealed that Thomas Hayden Church would be joining the cast as well, portraying Gillis’ character’s father in the second season.
As of now, we don’t have many details about their characters, but on a Thursday afternoon, Netflix shared some sneak peek photos for the upcoming season which is expected to air in 2025.
Tires” is a show that trails Will (Steve Gerben), an awkward manager of Valley Forge Automotive Center, his family’s auto repair shop. As Will strives to revamp the flagging business, he faces continuous jibes from his relative and coworker Shane (Gillis), who prefers cracking bad jokes over assisting customers. Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Stavros Halkias complete the ensemble cast.
Gillis self-produced the initial six-episode run of “Tires” with a meager budget. Later, Netflix took over distribution and debuted the first season in May 2024. The platform decided to greenlight another season before the first one was even broadcast. Additionally, Gillis’s latest stand-up comedy special, titled “Beautiful Dogs,” is available on Netflix, released in 2023.
In a somewhat split opinion, Alison Herman, the main TV critic at EbMaster, stated that “Tires” is at its best when showcasing what it appears to be centered on: the witty and provocative acting of Gillis as a former Rust Belt athlete who failed to achieve the success his character’s portrayer has enjoyed.
The series “Tires” was developed by Gillis, Gerben, and John McKeever, collectively known as “Gilly and Keeves.” They serve as executive producers for the show, with McKeever additionally taking on the role of director.
