Tiny Glade Developer Adds Controller Support Available In Beta For PC

Last month, Developer Pounce Light disclosed they’re preparing a patch update aimed at fine-tuning and enhancing the performance for the Steam Deck. This upcoming update targets their sandbox game, Tiny Glade, which is currently playable but may need adjustments from players due to being Steam Deck verified (meaning it can be played but needs some player-side tweaks).

Meanwhile, as efforts continue to validate Tiny Glade for Steam Deck, the developers are also focusing on adding controller compatibility to the PC edition of this sandbox game. At present, it doesn’t have controller support, but an update from the developer indicates that controller functionality will soon be available for Tiny Glade on PC.

On the 5th of February, 2025, I, as a humble game enthusiast, received some exciting news from Pounce Light on their Steam News page. Their dedicated development team is working tirelessly to incorporate general controller support, a move that’s directly linked to their commitment towards delivering proper Steam Deck compatibility.

However, before they unveil the patch update that brings this much-anticipated feature to life, they’re asking us, the community, for our valuable feedback. They’ve made available a beta patch version of controller support through beta testing. So, let’s jump in, test it out, and share our thoughts to help shape the final product!

As an excited fan, I can confirm that at this moment, we’re not equipped with controller support. However, if you’re using a mouse and keyboard with your Deck, you’ll be good to go! Keep your eyes peeled for future updates. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿš€

Although we’ve tried our best to interact with PS4, Xbox, and Steam Deck controllers using various gestures like rolling, booping, and patting, we believe that you will be able to perform these actions even more expertly. To help you familiarize yourself with the game controls, you can check out the default controller mapping. You can find this setting by locating the game in your Steam Library, clicking on the gear icon (cog wheel), and then selecting “Properties”. This action will bring up a menu on your screen where you can test the controller settings.

Afterwards, take a look at the available choices and select “Betas” followed by the “Beta participation” option. From the list, pick the beta path named “beta-1_12_0,” which is identified as Controller Support. During this testing phase, players should be aware that they will utilize the new default controller setup, as there seems to be an issue with the left and right triggers, a detail Pounce Light mentioned might cause some inconvenience for certain users.

The programmer has made several modifications to the game’s main menu, user interfaces, as well as Steam Input settings for both the menu and gameplay, along with new control schemes that come with the default controller configuration. Yet, they’ve also warned gamers about certain features that are absent, such as a tutorial that continues to show keyboard and mouse controls, incomplete localization, and problems affecting the toolbar alignment, which necessitates rebooting the game.
