Tinder’s new AI wants to see your camera roll to give you better matches

Tinder is planning to use new artificial intelligence to scan the photos on your phone, with the goal of improving your dating matches.

Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly common online. It’s being used to automate simple jobs at work and even helps with everyday tasks, like planning grocery shopping with smart appliances.

These days, some people are even turning to AI, like ChatGPT, for romantic connections, believing they have a better chance of finding love with an artificial intelligence than with another person.

If you’re hoping to find a meaningful connection on Tinder, they’ve introduced a new AI feature called Chemistry to help. To do this, it needs access to the photos on your phone.

Tinder reveals new AI tool Chemistry to help daters

Tinder revealed a new feature called Chemistry on March 12th, as part of a larger update to the app.

Tinder is now using artificial intelligence to learn your preferences and suggest more relevant matches. They plan to integrate this technology, currently called ‘Chemistry,’ throughout the app to create a more tailored and meaningful experience for each user.

Chemistry has a feature called Camera Roll Scan that users can choose to enable. It analyzes the photos on your phone to give you “Photo Insights” – basically, it tries to understand your interests, lifestyle, and personality based on the pictures you take.

“It’s designed to help you show more of who you are beyond just a few profile photos.”

Because this feature is optional, not everyone will choose to use it. Some people will prioritize keeping their information private over the possibility of finding matches.

The dating app recently reached a $60.5 million settlement in a lawsuit that claimed it unfairly charged some users higher subscription fees.
