The transfer of ownership happened right after the fall of the Maginot Line, and Prodigy then obtained the alien samples. This led to a gripping, slow-paced psychological thriller that explored what it means to be human and alien at the same time. Alien: Earth featured several completely new alien creatures that were unlike anything fans had seen in previous installments.

Alongside the Xenomorph, other terrifying creatures caused destruction, including the carnivorous Drosera plumbicare plant, massive tick-like parasites, and huge flies that sprayed acid. These monsters provided the scares, but Alien: Earth also focused on creating a consistently unsettling atmosphere, which made it stand out within the Alien series and on television at the time.

Alien: Earth Does Something the Franchise’s Movies Never Could

The show’s longer format allows it to build suspense, a sense of loneliness, and fear slowly, instead of rushing into action after just a brief setup. It actually holds back on full-throttle action, possibly reserving the most intense moments for a potential second season.

Unlike the Alien films, which had to work within limits of time, money, and scope, Alien: Earth had more creative flexibility. This allowed it to build suspense gradually, develop well-defined characters, and thoroughly explain its history.

The Alien Franchise Has a Bright Future After Alien: Earth

The Alien vs. Predator movies weren’t considered official parts of the story, leaving the future of the franchise unclear. A key character will appear in the next installment, expected in mid-to-late 2026. The story will continue after Wendy and the Lost Boys take over the Prodigy Corporation and control of the Xenomorph. Plans are also in place to expand the franchise with future theatrical releases.
