Having lived through the tumultuous years of the 2010s, I can’t help but feel a sense of deja vu as Donald Trump reclaims the title from Taylor Swift in 2024, following his second presidential victory over Kamala Harris.
In 2024, Donald Trump was chosen as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, an honor that came with a flattering endorsement from Marc Benioff, who has owned the magazine since 2018. Notably, Benioff is also the co-founder, chairperson, and CEO of Salesforce.

2023 saw music legend Taylor Swift being honored as the ‘Person of the Year’ by a magazine. However, this recognition was replaced in 2024 by Donald Trump, who won the presidential election against Kamala Harris that year. His second term will officially begin on January 20th, 2025. In his feature for Time magazine, Trump reiterated his intention to grant pardons to individuals implicated in the January 6th, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
