A popular TikTok account known for its cute cat videos is facing scrutiny, with some wondering if the content is actually created by artificial intelligence after a few videos gained widespread attention.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a part of our daily routines. It’s already helping to automate simple tasks at work, and you’ll likely encounter AI-created content when browsing social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
Currently, some platforms try to identify AI-generated content, often relying on users to report it or flag it as potentially fake. However, this isn’t a perfect solution, and many people are still being tricked by videos created with artificial intelligence.
TikTok has seen a lot of AI-created content become popular recently, and some of it has surprisingly focused on traditionally heartwarming topics. A good example is the fake retirement home, Basin Creek, which gained a lot of attention on TikTok around Halloween.
AI cats go viral on TikTok for sledding
Okay, so everyone’s been talking about this other account, TailBitPets. It’s been blowing up lately, and a lot of us are starting to wonder what’s going on with it.
This account features Loki and Max, two cats who are famous for their love of sledding – whether it’s down the stairs or snowy hills! Their videos have gone viral, earning them over 38,000 followers.
However, a few of the videos clearly show signs of being AI-generated. For example, one video features strangely distorted text on bowling pins as cats knock them over, and shows cats jumping backwards and even carrying a bucket upstairs only to slide back down.
People expressed strong negative reactions, with one commenter saying they were heartbroken, another still upset about a previous incident involving AI-generated content (‘the bunnies’), and a third stating they didn’t trust the content at all.
One viewer expressed frustration, saying it’s hard to simply enjoy the video without constantly wondering if it was made by AI.
People also noticed that the cats’ tails change length in the videos, suggesting it’s likely not genuine.
