TikToker responds to backlash after bakery exposes her offering “good review” for free food

TikTok food critic Glamorama has addressed the controversy sparked by her recent negative review of JL Patisserie in Phoenix, which has since gone viral.

I’ve noticed food reviews are *huge* online, but TikTok’s really made them blow up lately. Honestly, before I even *think* about trying a new restaurant, I’m checking to see what guys like Keith Lee and How Kev Eats have to say. It’s like, their reviews are a must-read now!

A food review on TikTok sparked a reaction from JL Patisserie, a bakery in Phoenix, Arizona, on October 10th when the account Glamorama posted their opinion.

In her review, Glamorama criticized the bakery’s ingredients, calling them artificial, and described the coffee as unpleasantly sour. She also felt the prices were too high, especially when compared to more affordable options in France, and expressed overall disappointment with the food.

JL Patisserie hit back at Glamorama’s review

The bakery replied to the review, explaining that Glamorama had previously contacted them about a possible partnership.

They explained they couldn’t accommodate the request due to budget limitations. Then, the person attempted to pressure them by suggesting a positive review in exchange for free food. Despite being told they would consider it, she returned the following day.

Even though we hadn’t planned to work with her, we recognized her when she arrived and were still happy to help, even offering her extra drinks. We understand negative reviews, but we don’t appreciate dishonesty or bullying behavior.

I saw this video of a bakery showing how they make their stuff, and it’s blown up – over 54 million views! But the comments section is kinda brutal; a lot of people are really coming down on this place called Glamorama.

Glamorama apologizes to JL Patisserie

The food critic, who posts reviews on TikTok and Instagram, first announced she was going to stop reviewing, but she later removed that announcement.

I was really glad to see she responded again on October 12th. She said she realized her original review wasn’t worded very well and that she should have been more careful with how she put things. She also mentioned that some of our earlier direct messages might have come across like she felt entitled, but she wanted to make it clear that wasn’t how she was feeling at all.

Glamorama sincerely apologized to the bakery for anything they may have said to cause offense. They expressed respect for the hard work and dedication that goes into running a small business and wished them all the best for the future.

Keith Lee responds to JL Patisserie’s viral review

Keith Lee, a well-known food reviewer on TikTok, praised the bakery’s reaction. He explained, “It was respectful and thoughtful, and it gave me a better understanding of the work and passion that goes into creating food. I really appreciate seeing what happens behind the scenes.”

He mentioned he’d be happy to review JL Patisserie if asked, noting it appears fantastic. However, he believes reviewers should be responsible for their own expenses and held accountable for their work.

Whether Glamorama will start reviewing food again is unknown, but she’s removed all her old videos and made her other social media accounts private.
