Shirley Raines, also known as Ms. Shirley, the founder and CEO of the nonprofit Beauty 2 The Streetz, has passed away at 58 years old.
According to TMZ, Katie Raines, known for her popular videos showing her work with people experiencing homelessness, was found dead Tuesday night at her home in Henderson, Nevada. Police conducted a wellness check and discovered her body.
According to her twin sister, Sheila, Raines was found unresponsive beside her bed. Sheila stated that Raines was in good health and not on any medication. The family is now awaiting the results of an autopsy, but they don’t believe there was any wrongdoing involved.

The organization shared that Ms. Shirley devoted her life to helping others and profoundly impacted homeless communities in Los Angeles and Nevada. She passionately advocated for those in need, showing deep compassion and unwavering dedication. Using her influence in the media, she gave a voice to underserved populations and brought them dignity, resources, and hope.

The entire Beauty 2 The Streetz team, along with the communities they support, is deeply saddened by the loss of Ms. Shirley. She positively impacted so many lives with her kindness and dedication. Her work and the connections she made will continue to be remembered and celebrated.
Raines received national praise for her work, including being named CNN’s Hero of the Year in 2021. In 2025, she also won the NAACP Image Award for her work as a social media personality.
Just two days before she passed away, Raines was captured on video giving out supplies from her car. This was something she often did, and she regularly shared videos of these outreach efforts in Los Angeles and Nevada on social media, making it a well-known part of her work.
