Brittany Miller, a well-known TikTok creator, has responded to accusations that she falsely claimed to have cancer nearly a decade ago, and has issued an apology to her followers.
Brittany Miller, a TikTok creator, was recently featured in a report by The Sun regarding accusations of faking a cancer diagnosis. According to a former friend, Miller told people in 2017 that she had stage 3 stomach cancer, which was untrue.
Friends and family reportedly created a JustGiving page to support Miller, raising around £150. While screenshots of the page are being shared, a direct link to it hasn’t been found.
After the report was published, people flooded Brittany Miller’s social media with requests for a response. She had initially remained silent, with her fiancé, Ash Kooner, stating she would speak when she was ready, but Brittany has now addressed the situation.
Brittany Miller addresses backlash over report
In 2017, I struggled with severe mental health issues, though I didn’t fully understand how serious they were at the time. I was dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts, and a lot of confusion. That year, I also experienced the loss of my partner and my job, all of which contributed to my declining mental health, as I shared with viewers on November 10th.
Miller stated she had always avoided discussing that time in her life, asserting that the events had been misrepresented.
I shared something privately with a close friend, just one thoughtless sentence that I now really regret. It wasn’t done to hurt anyone or deceive them, but because I was feeling desperate and wanted to maintain my relationships. I don’t think it was right, but I understand why I did it, and I’ve learned a valuable lesson. It wasn’t a calculated or drawn-out scheme like some people are suggesting.
The TikTok creator, with more than 3.5 million followers, stated she didn’t receive any money from the fundraising page and closed it once she noticed people were donating.
I’ve learned and grown from this experience, and I’m focused on becoming a better person. It took me a while to understand my actions, but I forgive myself because I was struggling with my mental health. I sincerely apologize to anyone I hurt or upset with my words. I wasn’t using social media at the time, either,” Miller explained.
She explained she wasn’t seeking popularity with her actions. She simply wanted to own up to her mistake and apologize to those she had harmed.
