Joe Exotic, the star of Tiger King, is offering fans a unique holiday gift: personal phone calls from prison. He’s advertising the calls on Instagram, allowing people to connect with him directly while he’s incarcerated.
Exotic, 62, posted a picture of himself wearing a Santa hat and asked his followers for financial help. He explained that he hasn’t received any money from Netflix, claiming they used his videos from YouTube without permission and after he was wrongly imprisoned. He stated this is the eighth Christmas he’s spent in jail, believing the system is corrupt.
He didn’t mention how much the calls would cost, but people responded asking about how to join them. Some already had the necessary accounts to send him money while he’s incarcerated, and others wondered if they could call from outside the country.

Joe Exotic still locked up after Netflix stardom
Joseph Allen Maldonado, known as Exotic, is in prison for both attempting to have someone murdered and for crimes against animals. Authorities say he tried to pay two people, including an FBI agent posing as a hitman, to kill Carole Baskin.
He was found guilty of violating the Endangered Species Act by killing tigers and running an illegal big cat operation, which included breeding, selling animals, and keeping false records. He was originally sentenced to 22 years in prison, but the sentence was later shortened.
In 2024, Joe Rogan shared that after appearing on his podcast, Tiger King’s Joe Exotic repeatedly contacted him, hoping Rogan would assist in securing his release from prison.
