Thunderbolts* 2 Gets an Update From Sebastian Stan

Sebastian Stan recently talked about whether a sequel to the movie Thunderbolts might happen. While at Tokyo Comic-Con 2025, the Marvel actor explained that a Thunderbolts 2 depends on how much fans like the first movie. Although the original film, released in May 2025, got good reviews, it didn’t do as well in theaters as hoped.

Sebastian Stan asks fans to help make Thunderbolts* sequel

During a panel at Tokyo Comic-Con 2025, Sebastian Stan hinted that the future of Thunderbolts 2 relies on how well the first movie is received by audiences. He encouraged fans to show their support if they want to see a sequel, saying, “If you guys like the movie, help us make another one.” (The Direct)

The actor, known for his role in ‘A Different Man,’ also reminisced about filming the first movie. He said he had a great experience because everyone involved – the cast and crew – was not only friendly but also hilarious. He specifically praised David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Florence Pugh, calling them very funny and exceptionally talented, and summed it up by saying, “It was just a good time.”

As of today, Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced Thunderbolts 2. But fans won’t have to wait long to see this team again – they’re now called the New Avengers and will be in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. In that movie, they’ll team up with the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men to face off against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

The end of the Thunderbolts* movie hinted at a future storyline where the team clashes with Captain America’s Avengers. This conflict will begin when Sam Wilson (the new Captain America) takes legal action against the New Avengers over a trademark dispute. The scene also suggested that the Fantastic Four will soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I just finished watching Thunderbolts on Disney+, and honestly, I was really impressed! Critics seem to agree – it’s got an 88% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But what really got me was the audience score – a whopping 93%! It’s clear a lot of people are enjoying it just as much as I did.

Jake Schreier directed the movie, which was written by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo. The cast includes Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Diego Luna, and John Boyega, as well as Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, and many other talented actors.
