Ever since the worldwide launch of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service, I’ve been thrilled to see Nintendo regularly adding a smattering of games from their legendary NES, SNES, and Game Boy libraries for us gamers to grab and enjoy. These timeless classics frequently receive updates that introduce unique features, such as online multiplayer and cooperative play, tailored to the specific games.
On social media, it has been announced that a fresh game update is now accessible for the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. This means players can enjoy new games added to the service starting from 24th January 2025, which you can find in the announcement trailer on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

In a recent update for the Nintendo Switch Online service, three additional games from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) have been included. According to their Twitter post on January 23rd, 2025, these games are Fatal Fury 2, Super Ninja Boy, and Sutte Hakkun. These classic titles join the growing collection of SNES games that subscribers to both the Individual and Family tiers can enjoy as part of their service.
In December 1992, SNK’s Fatal Fury 2, a sequel to the 1991 game Fatal Fury: King of Fighters for the SNES, was unveiled. The subsequent updated version, Fatal Fury Special, came out in 1993. On the other hand, Super Ninja Boy, an action RPG, debuted on the SNES in December 1991 and received a Wii U version in 2014. Sutte Hakkun, an action puzzle game, was another SNES release that took place in 1997. Fans translated this game into English and released it in 2017.
In April’s Nintendo Direct event, where the spotlight is primarily on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, it’s good news for current Switch Online subscribers that the service will indeed be compatible with the new console. This means that when the Switch 2 launches later this year, its users can access the existing library through their Switch Online membership, which was previously only available on the original Switch. Details about the official release date of the Switch 2 are expected to be revealed during the April 2025 Nintendo Direct presentation.
