Luckily, there are lots of accessories available, and this new magnetic case from MCon seems to strike a good balance between being useful and staying compact. You can preorder the MCon now for $145 – it’s currently discounted from its original price of $150 – and it’s designed to work with most phones using magnetic clamps.
The MCon started as a Kickstarter project that was hugely successful, raising over $1.7 million – far exceeding its $25,000 goal. A key part of its appeal is its design, which the manufacturer, Oh Snap, made to be easily customized, improved, and fixed. Mobile gaming controllers have become increasingly popular recently, especially as services like Netflix and Crunchyroll now include game libraries for their subscribers. The MCon joins a growing market of well-made accessories designed for mobile gaming.
Backbone is a leading brand making mobile gaming better with its portable controllers. They’ve partnered with Hideo Kojima’s studio to create a special Death Stranding 2: On the Beach controller, but you can already get the Backbone One for $100. There’s a USB-C version for newer phones and a Lightning version for older iPhones.
The Backbone One is well-built, but if you want a higher-end controller with improved components, the Backbone Pro is a great option. It features precise Hall Effect triggers, silent buttons, and full-size ALPS analog sticks for a more premium feel.
