Okay, so I’m really excited about Battlefield 6! One of the coolest things they’re doing is letting any class use any weapon. But here’s the catch – if I’m playing as, say, an Assault class and try to use a Sniper Rifle, my shots will randomly go off target. It seems like you really need to stick to the Recon class if you want to be a reliable sniper!
On October 13th, streamer Stodeh shared a video on X demonstrating a glitch. In the video, he repeatedly missed his target with a sniper rifle – hitting it only on his third shot despite aiming directly at it.
A player pointed out that snipers aren’t always accurate in Battlefield 6, unless you’re playing as the Recon class. They noted that the game doesn’t explain this, and tagged the principal gameplay designer, Florian ‘DRUNKKZ3’ Le Bihan. The player explained that if you use a sniper with any other class, the weapon will sometimes miss even when you’re perfectly still and aiming steadily.
In Battlefield 6, snipers aren’t always accurate. Unless you’re playing as the Recon class, you might randomly miss shots, even when perfectly still and controlling for weapon sway. This issue doesn’t seem to apply to the Recon class specifically.

He later said this wasn’t in the beta and was “silently added” ahead of launch.
Bloom, a feature introduced with Battlefield 6, has sparked debate. It causes bullets to deviate randomly, making automatic weapons less accurate at long distances and encouraging players to fire in short bursts. It now appears this effect also applies to bolt-action rifles for all classes except Recon, potentially causing even perfectly aimed shots to miss.
The Recon class excels at using Sniper Rifles. The game highlights that they have enhanced shooting abilities, meaning less wobble when aiming, faster reloading, and more stable aim thanks to improved breath control.
A player thought the weapon’s sway might be causing missed shots, but Stodeh disagreed, explaining that even with aiming aids like scopes, bipods, and lying prone, the gun would still occasionally miss.
BF6 players divided over sniper accuracy nerf
Players are divided on the issue. Some believe it’s fair to penalize characters for using weapons their class hasn’t been trained in, with one player commenting that it fits the idea of class specialization and works well with how weapons are unlocked. Others disagree.
When you consider it, it actually balances out the issue of too many snipers, especially since any class can be used.
I’m having fun with Battlefield 6, but I’m frustrated with the new weapon system. They completely changed how weapons work and made everyone use it, but now they’re penalizing players for using it because it’s not properly balanced. This wasn’t tested during the beta phase, and the change – specifically making snipers accurate for all classes – was added without any announcement in a patch.

People are expressing their disapproval, with one Twitter user questioning the need for it, saying, “Why did they even make this? No one wanted it.”
Someone commented that it’s absurd people are defending inaccuracy in shooting, saying it’s like bullets going in random directions. They expressed their disbelief with a crying emoji.
The developers at DICE haven’t addressed the issue with sniper rifle accuracy yet. Right now, sniper rifles are very difficult to use effectively with any class other than the Recon class, often causing players to miss shots they should normally make.
