Starring Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, the film is based on Andy Weir’s novel and tells the story of a mission to the Tau Ceti star system. There, Grace meets Rocky, an alien from the Eridian system, who is on a similar quest to save his home world.

Everyone loved the touching story, and people have been eagerly awaiting a continuation. Now, their wait is over – a video game based on the story is being released!

Project Hail Mary game lets you meet Rocky in VR

Maze Theory is creating a mixed and virtual reality experience based on Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars, with a planned release in late 2026.

This new story, written by Andy Weir, takes place during a crucial, previously unknown moment in the original story. You’ll team up with Rocky to repair the ship’s critical systems and ensure the mission’s success.

This game, using mixed or virtual reality, lets you directly interact with everything in the spaceship’s cockpit – you can even fly it! Best of all, you can playfully interact with the character Rocky, like giving him a thumbs up he won’t get, or recreating the famous ‘fist bump’ scene.

Andy Weir announced that fans have been eager for more content since he created Project Hail Mary a few years ago. This new experience is the first to extend beyond the story told in the book and film, offering it in mixed reality.

We don’t have a confirmed release date yet, but if you enjoyed Grace and Rocky’s story and want to see more, it shouldn’t be long before it’s available.
