A Season 2 cameo in Peacemaker, missed by many viewers, could be one of the most heartbreaking parts of the series. Peacemaker Season 2 has featured several significant cameos, arguably reaching its peak with Nicholas Hoult appearing as Lex Luthor in Episode 6. This trend continued in the second-to-last episode of the season, which used cameos to create a number of moving and sad scenes.
Warning – this article contains spoilers for Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 7.
Lochlyn Munro returned as Evergreen PD Detective Larry Fitzgibbon in Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 7. His character, Fitzgibbon, was killed in Season 1 when a Butterfly possessed his body. However, he was shown to be alive and well on Earth X, a new alternate reality introduced in Peacemaker Season 2.
In Episode 7, Fitzgibbon visited the Smith family home to question Robert Patrick’s character, Auggie Smith, about whether Peacemaker had been there following the attacks on officers from ARGUS and the Evergreen Police Department. However, viewers who’ve been watching since Season 1 noticed he wasn’t with his usual partner, Sophie Song, played by Annie Chang.
Detective Song played a key role in capturing Auggie Smith on Peacemaker’s Earth Prime, collaborating with Detective Fitzgibbon to imprison him and locate Peacemaker. Similar to Fitzgibbon, her character was killed off when the Butterfly queen took control of her, bringing her time on the show to an end after only one season. Sadly, a version of Detective Song wasn’t included in Season 2’s Earth X, reportedly due to her Asian ethnicity.
During Episode 6, viewers discovered that in the world of Earth X, the Nazis had won World War II and taken control. This resulted in a dangerous environment for people of color. Because of this situation, Sophie would likely have been sent to a work camp, assuming she even survived.
Peacemaker Season 2 is the third new show released as part of the revamped DC Universe, overseen by DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. The season stars John Cena, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, David Denman, and Frank Grillo, and follows Christopher Smith as he tries to become a hero – first by attempting to join a team called the Justice Gang, and then by searching for another universe. The last episode of Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on HBO Max on Thursday, October 9th at 9 p.m. ET.
How Sad Will Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 8 Get?
Fans are eager to find out what the future holds for the DCU, especially in the Season 2 finale. But there’s also curiosity about how this particular story will wrap up in that final episode. Considering that Peacemaker and his team returned to their own universe, it’s possible we’ll see a clash between the inhabitants of both worlds. The finale has set the scene for a potential conflict between the two universes, and fans are anticipating how that will play out. Looking ahead, the possibilities seem endless.
I’m really captivated by David Denman’s portrayal of Keith Smith – I think he’s going to be driven by a need for revenge after what happened to his father. It was such a shocking moment when Chris Smith found out his father was actually a good person in this new reality, a real gut punch, honestly. And poor Peacemaker? He’s at his absolute lowest point in this series, feeling like he’s to blame for everything going wrong. It’s heartbreaking to watch him struggle with that responsibility. I’m eager to see what happens next, especially with Keith Smith – his storyline is so compelling.
While we don’t yet know the specifics of the plot for Episode 8, it’s anticipated that we’ll learn even more about the world of Earth X. This will likely place Chris Smith and his companions in serious peril, and could even lead them to permanently separate their worlds.
Following that, Peacemaker’s role within the larger DC Universe will become clearer, and we’ll likely see more of Earth Prime developed as the franchise builds out the details of its overall story.
