Screenbound is a new puzzle game that promises a unique experience. Its creators call it the world’s first ‘5D platformer,’ and early looks suggest it’s going to be incredibly enjoyable and visually challenging.

Screenbound, developed by the independent studio Crescent Moon Games, is a unique puzzle game that blends 3D and 2D gameplay. You’ll have to skillfully switch between both perspectives to solve each level.

Using a device called “Qboy” (it’s not related to the Gameboy!), you’ll find yourself simultaneously leaving the real world and entering the game. You’ll need to cleverly use both realities to solve every challenge.

Sometimes, challenges in the real world have solutions in the game. If you’re blocked by a wall you can’t climb over in real life, the game might offer a ladder to help you get past it. Or, a fan in the real environment could lift you to a higher platform where you can find items within the game.

Be careful, though! Even when things seem safe, hidden 2D enemies can still appear, so you need to pay attention to everything happening around you.

Screenbound offers a fresh take on platforming games by combining classic pixel art with a modern 3D world. The game challenges players to use information from both the 3D environment and a 2D screen to solve complex puzzles and overcome obstacles.

It’s a unique premise for a puzzle game, and according to the game’s Steam page, there will also be “new abilities” unlocked along the way, so expect the challenges to get even more complex over time. “This isn’t just a game. It’s a quantum experiment, and you’re the variable,” the devs add.
