Just before Christmas, a comic book collector discovered thieves had broken into his storage unit and stolen $35,000 worth of comics, significantly reducing his collection.
The YouTuber known as The Omnibus Collector, who regularly shares videos about comics and manga, announced the news on his channel. He said he was storing comics he didn’t have room for at home, primarily expensive, collected editions.
He reported that about 40 boxes of books, plus his grandfather’s bike and tools, were stolen. He thinks the thieves targeted the storage unit because they’d seen him going there often, not because they knew what was inside.

The collector found the escape route and the security camera that should have recorded the theft, but he was told by management that the footage wasn’t helpful, making it unlikely they’ll be able to find who did it.
Police explained that even if they found the comics, it would be very hard to prove who owned them because the books weren’t marked with any serial numbers or identifying features.
He said it took him a few days to accept that he couldn’t get the books back, and that there was nothing he could do about it.
Even though his home wasn’t burglarized, the incident deeply affected him. He shared that it took away his feeling of safety, and the resulting anxiety led him to consider moving to avoid needing to use storage facilities.
Man, after someone stole my collection, the gaming community totally came through for me! People have been sending me replacement books and gift cards, and I’ve already gotten about 20 volumes back – it’s awesome!
Even though his collection was stolen, The Omnibus Collector is optimistic about starting over. He says, “We plan to replace everything that was taken and rebuild the collection, making it even better than before.”
