Writer Jonathan Tropper recently told The Direct that he, Jason Momoa, and Dave Bautista have already talked about making another movie together. While Bautista is very busy, it sounds like a second film will happen if the first one performs well on streaming services. Tropper mentioned that success is the main factor being considered.
I’ve been chatting with Jason Momoa about it, and I really wanted to get Dave Bautista’s thoughts too, but he’s swamped filming two other projects right now. We’ve definitely been brainstorming, and it feels like we have a solid direction. It’s about these brothers finally being truly connected, and I think a sequel would really test that bond. We’d throw them into a much tougher situation than before, and then see how their relationship, which grew between the first and second films, starts to fall apart under pressure, as they’re forced to rely on each other again in a really difficult environment.
What is ‘The Wrecking Crew‘ About?
The idea for The Wrecking Crew started as a fun online suggestion – Dave Bautista thought it would be cool to star in a buddy cop movie with Jason Momoa, similar to Lethal Weapon. It took five years to make, but the finished product seems to have been worth the effort.
The movie follows two long-lost half-brothers, Jonny (played by Momoa) and James (played by Bautista), who reconnect after their father dies under suspicious circumstances. Like many films of this type, they uncover hidden secrets, deceptions, and a surprising conspiracy, forcing them to learn to trust each other to make it through the story.
Although the story itself isn’t particularly original, many critics are praising the fantastic chemistry between Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. They play off each other really well! Early signs suggest the movie will be even more popular with viewers than critics, with initial reactions calling it a fun, action-packed ride – exactly the kind of entertainment streaming audiences enjoy.
