The Witcher 4 Director Breaks Down New Trailer Scene-By-Scene

As a dedicated fan with countless hours spent traversing the vast landscapes of The Continent, I can hardly contain my excitement for The Witcher 4! The teaser trailer at The Game Awards was nothing short of breathtaking, leaving me on the edge of my seat, eagerly awaiting any and all updates about this anticipated sequel.

Among the many exciting moments at The Game Awards, one that stood out was the debut of the initial trailer for The Witcher 4, the much-anticipated successor to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Now, director Sebastian Kalemba has shed some light on what we can expect from the upcoming game with a detailed analysis, scene by scene, of the teaser trailer.

Kalemba clarified that the occurrences depicted in this teaser are integral to The Witcher 4’s narrative, rather than just elements crafted exclusively for the trailer. He hinted at the approaching tragedy by disclosing that these scenes transpire in Stromford, a secluded village situated in the northern regions. Unlike other parts of the continent, this village doesn’t depend on Witchers to combat their monsters. Instead, a young woman from the village is selected for a ritual sacrifice.

In the game world I inhabit, there’s a girl named Mioni. It seems like she’s not just being used by her family and townsfolk, but also by Ciri in an unusual way. You see, Ciri has Mioni sing a tune that summons this fearsome creature, the Bauk. Yet, after realizing the potential danger, Ciri decides against putting Mioni’s life on the line during the upcoming battle with the Bauk. Instead, she sends her back to the village before the fight begins.

Unfortunately for Ciri, her intense struggle against the Bauk seems fruitless when she learns that Mioni was killed by the townsfolk. Interestingly, Kalemba proposes a method to rescue Mioni from her grim destiny. He subtly suggests that there are options and that the outcomes will depend on the decisions made. Thus, it might be possible to vanquish the monster while saving Mioni. Alternatively, the price for Mioni’s survival could mean sparing the Bauk. For now, we can only ponder what the future holds.

CD Projekt Red has revealed that the challenges encountered during Cyberpunk 2077’s development have influenced positive adjustments in the approach towards The Witcher 4’s creation. Hints suggest that The Witcher 4 will surpass both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 in scale and quality. At present, a release date for The Witcher 4 remains undisclosed, as the project has just expanded its workforce to over 400 developers and officially commenced full-scale production.
