‘The Way Home’ Will Air on Hallmark Channel After All — Company Reverses Streaming Rollout After Fan Revolt

As a dedicated fan who has followed “The Way Home” since its inception, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the show’s return to the Hallmark Channel! After months of speculation and grumblings from fellow fans, it’s heartening to see that our voices have been heard. The decision to premiere on both linear TV and Hallmark+ is a testament to the power of fandom and the love we have for this series.

“The Way Home” is coming back … home.

Previously, it was announced that the popular show would be shifting to Hallmark+’s novel streaming platform for its third installment, airing in January. Its traditional broadcast premiere was planned for the autumn.

Following numerous expressions of enthusiasm and loyalty from fans, it’s been announced that “The Way Home” will debut on the Hallmark Channel on Friday, January 3, at 9 p.m. The following day, it will also be available for streaming on Hallmark+. Fans of this show have voiced their concerns – especially in Facebook groups – about having to subscribe to another streaming platform, with some even hinting at a boycott. However, the show’s release strategy will remain as scheduled throughout the entire season.

In September, Hallmark premiered several original series such as “The Chicken Sisters” and “Celebrations With Lacey Chabert.” More originals like “The Groomsmen” and “Love on the Danube” trilogies, “Finding Mr. Christmas” starring Jonathan Bennett, and “Mistletoe Murders” followed in the subsequent months.

The announcement that “The Way Home” would be airing again on Hallmark’s main channel was made by actors Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh during the “Peek Behind the Scenes” discussion at the Hallmark Christmas Extravaganza in Kansas City on Friday.

Previously announced, Julia Tomasone and Jordan Doww are set to join the cast for Season 3, portraying the teenage counterparts of Del (MacDowell) and Colton (Jefferson Brown). The series will travel back in time to 1974, where they initially crossed paths as teenagers. Moreover, Devin Cecchetto has been added to the cast as Evelyn Goodwin, a character Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) encounters from the past, who might create complications in the present.

Season 3 picks up right from where Season 2 ended, with character Kat (Leigh) meeting up with her brother Jacob (Spencer Macpherson), preparing to step into the Landry household.
