Simon Jones, a publicist, stated, “James was an exceptionally loved individual with a heart of gold and an incredible talent.” He further mentioned that the family prefers not to reveal any additional details at this time. At just 32 years old, The Vivienne had made a significant impact in the world of drag. She won the inaugural season of RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K., impressing judges with her portrayal of “the best Snatch Game character in the show’s history” as Donald Trump. In addition to her success on Drag Race, she represented the U.K. on Drag Race All-Stars 7 and appeared frequently on British television shows such as Dancing on Ice and most recently BBC One’s 2024 Blankety Blank Boxing Day special.
People who knew The Vivienne have been expressing their sorrow on social media platforms. Jinkx Monsoon, the winner of All-Stars 7, expressed her feelings by saying, “I’m at a loss for words… She has left an indelible mark on our hearts and on her stages.” On X, she wrote, “It’s too early for the final bow, but I know it’s a standing ovation. I love you Viv.” The official RuPaul’s Drag Race account also released a statement saying, “We are profoundly saddened to learn of The Vivienne’s passing. Her talent, wit, and devotion to drag artistry was an inspiration. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue as a symbol of creativity and authenticity – she truly embodied what it means to be a genuine champion.
