A new logo from Disney has been revealed for The Simpsons Movie 2, which is currently scheduled for release in 2027. It’s been 20 years, 19 seasons, and over 400 episodes since the first Simpsons Movie earned over $536 million in 2007. Since then, Disney bought 20th Century Fox, becoming the full owner of The Simpsons.
At a Disney event in Sorrento, Italy, the studio recently shared details about its future projects, including a sequel to The Simpsons Movie. They also revealed the movie’s logo: a yellow hand holding a pink donut, a classic image of the show’s star, Homer Simpson.

As a huge fan of both Disney and The Simpsons, I was thrilled to hear the news back in September that The Simpsons Movie 2 is officially happening! Disney announced it with a really clever tagline – “Homer’s coming back for seconds.” They even released a teaser poster with a donut design, but this time it was filled with the number 2 everywhere, which was a fun way to hint at the sequel!

Though these hands holding donuts have appeared before, this marks the first time Disney is officially using them as a logo – alongside promotions for big titles like Avengers: Doomsday and Toy Story 5. Previously, they were just used as quick preview images.
Okay, so as a huge movie fan, I’m already getting excited about next year! It’s shaping up to be an incredible one for theaters, especially with a new Simpsons Movie on the way. And it’s not just that – we’re also getting fresh films from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and DC. Seriously, it looks like it could be one of the best years ever for superhero movies!

There’s some disappointing news for fans of The Simpsons Movie 2 as well: Disney has pushed back the release date to September 3, 2027, from its original date of July 23. A new poster features Homer Simpson planting a flag with the phrase “Labor D’Oh Weekend” 2027.

Details about The Simpsons Movie 2, set to release over Labor Day weekend in 2027, are currently scarce. However, we can expect to hear the same beloved cast, including Dan Castellaneta as Homer, Julie Kavner as Marge, Nancy Cartwright as Bart, and Yeardley Smith as Lisa, as well as the rest of the iconic voices from Springfield.
What Will The Simpsons Movie 2 Be About?
When The Simpsons Movie 2 is released in theaters on September 3, 2027, the show will be finishing its 38th season. Interestingly, with storylines now playing out in both movies and TV episodes, The Simpsons is starting to resemble the kind of interconnected universe it used to poke fun at, though it hasn’t created as many spin-off series.
For nearly twenty years, fans have wanted a sequel to The Simpsons Movie, but it hasn’t happened. This led some to believe Disney might be planning a final movie that would conclude the show’s story.
Currently, we don’t know anything about the story of this project, and the new logo—which just features a donut—doesn’t offer many clues. Seeing Homer Simpson with a donut is already a familiar image for anyone who watches The Simpsons.
Disney is sure to make the next movie a major theatrical experience, probably with a bigger and more ambitious story that might even move the characters beyond Springfield again.
