After four seasons, the “MomTok” community is doing better than ever. The truce reached last season seems to be holding, and everyone is getting along, even those who used to clash. Several of the group’s most popular members are now taking on bigger opportunities: Whitney and Jen are competing on Dancing With the Stars, Mayci has published a memoir, and Taylor is exploring potential relationships online as she prepares to be the next Bachelorette.
The moms of MomTok are also enjoying some smaller victories. Demi has been included in group activities again, and Miranda has consistently stayed out of drama. Layla is now dating Mason, Chase’s brother, who she had a crush on last season, and Jessi has stopped apologizing for her relationship with Marciano. Mikayla has alluded to some personal struggles, like a health issue and marital difficulties, but currently seems unconcerned. Plus, many of the moms are newly postpartum and simply too exhausted for their usual conflicts. For example, when Jen finds out Mayci and Mikayla invited Demi to their baby shower, she only manages a frustrated eye roll, and Mayci and Mikayla don’t react at all when Jen invites Whitney.
Jessi’s recent success is causing problems for her husband, Jordan. He’s realized he’s been living in a world dominated by Barbieland and feels he needs to quickly establish his own identity with a project he calls his “Mojo Dojo Casa House” – essentially, a DadTok channel. Still sensitive about a previous incident with Marciano and feeling overshadowed by his wife’s fame, Jordan tries to assert himself by making comments like “DadTok is funnier than MomTok.” He decides the best way to get attention for DadTok is for the dads to travel to Vanderpump Villa and compete for attention by kissing Lisa Vanderpump’s staff.
Chase is surprisingly succeeding in getting attention, mostly because the Kens are working hard to be seen. While the moms constantly call him out for seeking fame, he doesn’t seem to mind as long as it gets him noticed. He cleverly pursued Taylor, took her on one date, and instantly landed a spot helping her move – right in the season’s first episode. There was a quick moment where people wondered if his flirting with Taylor would cause trouble with Miranda, but Taylor quickly reassured her over snacks that nothing was happening. Chase isn’t fading into the background, though. He and his brother Mason are now fully part of the main cast and are heading to the Vanderpump Villa with their dad. It’s impressive how Chase has managed to get so much screen time.
Jordan, though well-meaning, doesn’t always handle things smoothly. We were at a ‘sip-and-see’ – basically a small party to introduce the new babies, hosted by Mikayla, Mayci, and Jen, who all recently had children. Mikayla was starting to release butterflies as a symbolic gesture, but Jordan blurted out, “Can I go first?” It was a really awkward interruption – like when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift, but at least he was building someone else up. Jordan announced that he’s taking the ‘DadTok’ group to the Vanderpump Villa. Everyone had to pretend to be excited for him, while Mikayla stood there holding a box of butterflies. Jessi, mortified, joked that the rain was a bad sign.
Well, fine, Jordan. You want the spotlight so bad? Here it is.
Jordan is overly enthusiastic about the DadTok trip to Vanderpump Villa, framing it as a major test for the dads’ relationships – almost like a ‘love island’ experience. It’s clear he’s never been part of casual, unfiltered conversations, and it seems to have affected his confidence. He speculates, with a forced playful tone, whether Mason, whom he dramatically calls ‘CrossFit Jesus,’ will be able to remain faithful to Layla at the villa, acting as if London is the only place where Mason might be tempted to stray. Jordan also suggests, in a very serious tone, that some of the dads might not even be allowed to go because their wives are too controlling. Desperate to appear masculine and refined, Jordan is getting custom suits made for everyone and insists he genuinely enjoys oysters. It’s hard to even be genuinely annoyed with Jordan because his attempts to seem cool are so obvious.
Things are even worse because Jordan keeps pretending everything is perfect – that he’s completely better and his marriage is great, even though everyone knows it’s not true. Jessi always carries a specific overnight bag when she stays anywhere, and she has it with her at the “bon voyage” party DadTok is throwing at a go-kart track and arcade. While Jordan is telling their son, Chase, that he’s gone to therapy more than Jessi and she needs to try harder, Jessi is having a panic attack on the couch. Her friends are gently urging her to leave Jordan, but Layla cuts straight to the chase, bluntly saying she absolutely despises him.
