Have you ever had a silly image stuck in your head? Let me share one with you that will bring you to ‘Cursed Town.’ Imagine the opening credits of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but every time you see Whitney, picture Marciano’s face instead. Just his face! So you’ll see Marciano in the flowing blue dress, walking across the Great Salt Lake with the other ‘MomTok’ personalities, both old and new. We haven’t seen Whitney at all yet, but Marciano is getting so much screen time, he practically is an honorary member of MomTok!
He doesn’t seem like a natural fit for the brand – he certainly doesn’t embody the idea of ‘girl power.’ However, he brings a lot to the table. He’s very focused on building his social media following and loves being in the know. Plus, he’s been trained by a pro – Lisa Vanderpump – and has a knack for turning even the smallest drama into a captivating storyline.
So, Mayci and Mikayla are still questioning Marciano, and he’s confessed that Demi told him to lie and say he slept with Jessi. He says she pushed him to stick to the story and even encouraged him, reminding him they were both on the show together. It makes you wonder if Demi has some kind of unusual influence over people. She seems to have a lot of control, and it’s more than just her ability to use psychological language – there must be more to it, or she has even more secrets about these people.
Marciano also wants to clarify that he doesn’t have erectile dysfunction. He says it’s completely normal to carry a prescription for medication treating it, even if you don’t actually need it – it’s really not a big deal! Just having the pills doesn’t mean there’s a problem, and he wants people to understand that.
Demi, who’s mostly communicated through lengthy, angry messages, still seems to have some influence over Miranda. At a recent event, Miranda was left in the dark about the drama between Jessi, Jordan, and Marciano because the other women don’t trust her – they know she’s connected to Demi and essentially ignore her, treating her like someone new and unsure. This has become a recurring pattern, and it’s unkind. So far, Miranda appears genuinely nice and seems to understand her situation, showing no signs of being manipulative or causing trouble.
The situation with Zac, Jordan, Jessi, and Marciano is incredibly messy. Zac is acting like he doesn’t know about the affair between Jessi and Marciano, even as Jordan explains it to him – it’s hard to believe he’s that clueless. And his reaction is strange; if someone told you their partner cheated, you wouldn’t ask how sure they are it didn’t happen. Jordan insists Marciano admitted everything, which seems to confirm things. But what’s even more disturbing is Zac’s take on Jen’s mental breakdown. He actually thinks it was good for their marriage because he was supportive during a difficult time, and now she feels indebted to him. The idea that someone only stays with you because they’re vulnerable after a crisis is deeply concerning and feels dangerously close to Stockholm syndrome.
Let’s switch gears to the Jetset by ACTA influencer event. Honestly, my favorite part of these events is trying to figure out what companies actually do just by looking at the freebies, venue, and table decorations. I initially thought this one was for a private jet rental service, but I was way off! ACTA describes itself as offering beautifully made, high-quality, and stylish products – which basically means leggings. The funny part? Not a single pair of leggings were to be found at the event. Except for Demi, who… well, let’s just say it didn’t go well.
Layla’s refusal of a hug immediately throws Demi off balance, and Layla subtly accuses her of knowing exactly what she did wrong. Demi tries to defend herself, claiming she has a long history of texts proving her innocence. Layla cleverly points out inconsistencies in Demi’s story – like why Demi would try to stop Marciano from pursuing things if she didn’t care about Jessi, and why she’d be contacting Marciano during filming if she didn’t want to interfere. Annoyed, Demi resorts to a classic reality TV tactic, accusing Layla of questioning her character. She then begins to read aloud the lengthy text message she sent to Marciano.
I really think if these women had AO3 accounts, a lot of their problems could be solved. They’re clearly talented storytellers who aren’t afraid to write lengthy pieces, and they have plenty of interesting and unique experiences to draw from. Just think – if Demi and Jessi channeled their frustrations into fanfiction instead of causing drama, we might be reading a wild new story right now! Imagine a Vanderpump Villa fanfic where Marciano is a werewolf and the Mormon wives (and even their husbands!) are vampires. Instead, Demi gets upset and threatens to reveal Jessi’s infidelity online, but she can’t because it would break her contract with the show while they’re still filming.
The next day, the core members of MomTok, along with Miranda, headed to St. George for an ATV outing, hoping to get more content featuring Marciano. They quickly decided to welcome Miranda into the group, convinced she wasn’t the one leaking information. She hadn’t checked in on Demi after the livestream threat, and in MomTok, anyone who opposes their enemies is considered an ally. Miranda wants to refocus MomTok on its original values: supporting each other, creating fun dances, and looking good while doing it. It’s refreshing to have someone on the team who’s grounded in reality! Taylor agrees and thinks Demi and/or Whitney will try to get back into MomTok, so they need a clear rule against letting them rejoin – unless it’s a mental health emergency. Taylor also strongly disapproves of Jessi’s plan to invite Marciano on their trip with the pretense of giving him a lie detector test.
Jessi desperately needs to move on and will do whatever it takes to find peace. Meanwhile, Mayci and Mikayla, working as detectives, hire a lie detector expert – someone they quickly believe because she prefers to stay off camera. Marciano, however, loves being in the spotlight! He immediately starts trying to win Jessi back, showing up with flowers and compliments, hoping to share a private moment with her. I’m really trying to understand Jessi’s actions, especially since she’s told her therapist she tends to suppress her emotions. It’s difficult, though, because she doesn’t seem angry at all with the man who completely disrupted her marriage and life, all for the sake of his own ambition. It’s incredibly frustrating to hear Marciano say things like “I have the utmost respect for you” when his actions have consistently shown the opposite.
As this discussion and lie detector test unfold, the other women are gathered around a bonfire, having surprisingly insightful conversations about the challenges and contradictions within Mormonism. Mayci clearly doesn’t fit the stereotype of typical Mormon men. And Heather Gay, if you’re seeing this, please get the whole cast onto the Surviving Mormonism podcast – it would be amazing! There’s a lot here worth exploring.
Jessi and Marciano finally went to the bar, and it didn’t look good – there’s really no way to sugarcoat it. While we might discuss what exactly happened during editing, the chemistry between them was definitely there. Thankfully, their one-on-one time quickly turned into a group dinner where the lie detector results were revealed. Everything matched expectations until Jessi’s answer about physical intimacy beyond the two kisses came back as unclear. One thing is certain: Jordan is going to be very upset with how things unfolded. Everyone involved is going to need some luck!
