As a devoted Stephen King fanatic with a lifetime of chills and thrills under my belt, I am beyond excited for the upcoming movie extravaganza that is 2025! With The Running Man, The Long Walk, and The Monkey gracing our screens, it’s safe to say we’re in for a rollercoaster ride of terror and suspense.
Among Stephen King’s highly anticipated adaptations, “The Running Man” has been moved to a more early release date in 2025. Given King’s past record with film adaptations, this shift suggests promising prospects for the movie.
Among the three thrilling films by Stephen King set for release next year, “The Running Man” will join its counterparts, “The Long Walk” and “The Monkey.
2025 promises an exhilarating year for horror and thriller enthusiasts, but with Glen Powell as the main actor and Edgar Wright directing, “The Running Man” is set to become a highly anticipated movie in 2025.
Initially set to premiere on November 21, the upcoming film has been moved up to November 7 instead.
Some of the best Stephen King movies have November releases
Moving the premiere date forward is a promising sign for the King adaptation, as it means The Running Man will likely surpass Wicked: For Good in terms of competition. To date, the musical’s first half has grossed an impressive $536 million at the box office, making it challenging for Powell and Wright to catch up with that blockbuster sequel.
In other words, an early premiere provides The Running Man with a significant advantage, while it’s also worth noting that November has traditionally been a successful month for past stories from the King universe.

Apart from the original Running Man debuting in November of 1987, it’s worth noting that two other successful films, Carrie (1976) and Misery (1990), also premiered in November in their respective years.
Every one of those adaptations thrived at the cinema, recouping their investments and, notably, Carrie and Misery became major box office successes. In fact, Misery was Stephen King’s first film to earn an Academy Award.
Additionally, Deadline has verified that Paramount will be granted use of IMAX screens in conjunction with the release of the action film starring Glen Powell.
In addition to the movies based on Stephen King’s works coming out in 2025, there are two more: “The Monkey,” scheduled for release on February 21, 2025, and “The Long Walk,” for which the specific release date has yet to be announced.
