There’s a special kind of fun in seeing two shows collide, and we’re getting that now with The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and Below Deck Down Under! The housewives are taking a trip on a boat, and even Bronwyn will be joining, despite recent rumors and legal issues she’s been dealing with.
Watching everyone get assigned bedrooms on the boat was surprisingly smooth – Heather snagged the master, Meredith got her beloved bathtub, and everyone seemed happy, which is more than the original RHONY cast ever managed! But the peace didn’t last. When Britani learned she’d be sharing a room with Bronwyn, her face instantly showed pure horror – it was like her Botox couldn’t even hide how upset she was.
Just as we’re talking about her, Bronwyn makes a grand entrance, arriving in a ridiculously fun inflatable costume and speeding towards the yacht on a speedboat – she looks like a movie villain! It was a good move for the show to have her travel separately, since this is the first time everyone will see her – and vice versa – since all the drama started. I’m especially glad we’re finally going to hear from Lisa. She claims she doesn’t want to enjoy Bronwyn’s misfortune, but you can definitely see she’s amused and curious about why Bronwyn would target her, considering Lisa has her own secrets.
Now that Bronwyn has rejoined the group, she finally addresses the rumors surrounding her past. She explains that one issue stems from an eviction that happened twenty years ago, and another involves a sealed case related to her work from ten years ago, which she can’t discuss. She suspects someone intentionally leaked these stories, but she’s careful not to directly accuse anyone. It’s clear to everyone, though, that she’s referring to Lisa.
Lisa’s emphatic denial – she said “Nobody would do that here, nobody” a bit too fast – actually makes her seem suspicious. She strongly insists no one would leak information like that, even though she’s been involved in similar lawsuits herself. Her forceful protests are backfiring and making people wonder if she’s involved. Meanwhile, Bronwyn cleverly steered the conversation away from her own questionable past and onto the possibility that Lisa is the source of the leaks, all without directly accusing anyone or getting involved herself. It was a really skillful move on her part.
With a day of fun and drinks underway, the other women are now left wondering: who started the rumors?
While hanging out, Whitney and Heather discuss Lisa’s tendency to uncover dirt on anyone she’s upset with. Heather, who’s been trying to be supportive of Lisa this season, admits Lisa is incredibly shrewd and calculating – even comparing her to a supervillain. Convinced Lisa is behind the current rumors, they decide to enlist her close friend, Meredith, to help solidify their position. As Whitney goes to find Meredith, she does so in a bizarre way, casually tumbling backward off the bed like a character from Willy Wonka. It was such an unexpected move that the narrator initially questioned if they even saw it happen.
When Meredith arrives, she’s much harder to persuade – she isn’t willing to blindly accept what others say. She’s carefully cultivated a good relationship with Lisa and doesn’t want to risk it by jumping to conclusions. So, instead of joining the criticism of Lisa, she suggests these stories about Lisa’s opponents might just be coincidences, and decides to let Lisa defend herself at dinner.
Before dinner, a few things need to be discussed. First, Britani brought a stuffed unicorn that creepily plays a recording of Jared saying “I love you” – even though they’re currently on a break. It’s hard to believe they’re broken up, especially since Britani has been openly flirting with everyone on board, including Captain Jason. And Heather accidentally let slip that she and Captain Jason had a fling, immediately regretting her words. She questioned whether she actually said it, asking producers not to include it, but it’s clear they have a connection. Also, someone brought a cucumber on the trip for an unknown reason, and left it on their bedside table… just in case.
Dinner was supposed to be where things really exploded with Lisa, but first, a surprising fight broke out between Britani and Meredith. It started when Bronwyn revealed that Britani had made insensitive comments about Meredith faking seizures during arguments. Meredith was furious, especially because her own child actually has seizures. She yelled at Britani and threw her drink, and Britani tried to retaliate. But in an unbelievable moment, Meredith somehow managed to deflect the drink back onto Britani, defying gravity! Mary and Angie were sadly missing the drama, as Angie had been terribly seasick throughout the trip.
The conversation then shifts to Heather and Whitney discussing Lisa, and their attempt to involve Meredith. However, Meredith quickly realizes what they’re doing and doesn’t want any part of it, particularly because Lisa is already upset at the thought of Meredith not backing her up. So, Heather directly tells Lisa that she believes Lisa is the one sharing private information with the press, as Lisa often seems to know things before they become public.
Lisa jokingly refers to herself as the biggest gossip source in Salt Lake City, explaining she inevitably overhears things when she’s out. She insists she doesn’t share this information with the media, but feels like everyone is ganging up on her, and becomes very upset. She’s clearly overwhelmed and exhausted.
Heather usually plays this game well and thinks carefully before taking risks, but she’s had a little too much to drink and isn’t acting like herself. It’s strange that she’s even getting involved, since this is really Bronwyn’s problem – and Bronwyn herself knows it’s best to avoid the drama. Heather also seems to think she can avoid consequences and is confused why accusing Lisa is such a big deal, as if Lisa would simply admit to everything. While Heather enjoys solving mysteries, she’s overlooking the possibility that there’s another reason why these stories about Bronwyn are circulating.
It’s a common problem on Housewives shows: cast members immediately suspect each other when information leaks. However, they often overlook the obvious: being on television means millions of people are watching and talking about them. Lisa Barlow, for example, doesn’t need to share private information herself – she has plenty of dedicated fans who will happily spread rumors online. In fact, gossip blogs dedicated to the Housewives franchise have become a huge business, and that’s a much more likely source of the constant leaks than anything happening within the cast itself.
We all know Lisa enjoys uncovering secrets, and she usually prefers to reveal them directly to the person she’s confronting – like when she exposed the necklace at the reunion. So, it’s strange she’d leak information anonymously online instead of enjoying the drama herself. However, a key piece of evidence supports Lisa’s side. Bronwyn claims an online account discussing her legal troubles used a nickname Lisa supposedly gave her – “Conwyn.” But a flashback actually shows Lisa called her “Fraudwyn.” This discrepancy suggests Bronwyn’s evidence isn’t reliable.
Despite everything, most people still believe Lisa was responsible. She runs away, upset and calls John for support while Heather tries, unsuccessfully, to stop her. Lisa eventually finds herself alone, crying by the water – a scene strikingly similar to the iconic photo of Princess Diana on a diving board. It’s a truly artistic moment on this show.
