Let’s be real, friend groups are messy. We all say we’re tight, but when you spend a lot of time with the same people, it’s rare everyone truly clicks. You end up with people you only interact with in group chats, because while you all get along okay, a one-on-one hang just wouldn’t work. It’s usually harmless – maybe a meme war or a debate over splitting the bill. But it all hinges on everyone playing nice. Once the core group decides someone isn’t fitting in anymore, things can fall apart fast, and that’s exactly what’s happening to Angel Massie, if the story is to be believed.
Angel started the trip at a disadvantage. Originally planned as a couples getaway, the trip was reworked after most of the couples broke up. This left limited housing options for the cast and crew during a busy travel season. While these logistical issues were likely unavoidable, Gizelle, Wendy, and Ashley used them as an opportunity to turn the group against Angel. They complained about problems like inconsistent water pressure, poor cell service, and the remote, somewhat scary location. While these issues are common for stays in remote areas, Angel had already clashed with Gizelle and Wendy so many times that she wasn’t given the benefit of the doubt when these problems arose.
It’s unfortunate the trip planning was so disorganized, because Angel’s home is truly beautiful – a stylish property on a huge piece of land. I saw a tour of the Massies’ home on Homeworthy, and the estate is even more impressive when you look closely. Considering where she lives and that she recently bought her home in Potomac, I can see why she’s upset about the false claims about her family and finances. She’s clearly the wealthiest of the group, but she’s not doing a great job of showing it off, instead focusing on denying rumors about offering just $1,000 a month for rent – an amount that wouldn’t even cover an apartment in Montgomery County, let alone a house in Potomac.
Instead of enjoying Angel’s beautiful home, the trip is quickly overshadowed by the women’s complaints. They barely appreciate the lavish dinner because they’re too focused on how isolated the location is. Even a private jet trip to Aspen, which Angel claimed to have paid for herself, goes unacknowledged. They blame Angel’s partner, Bobby, for the distance. Aside from a typical argument between Tia and Stacey over a minor issue – a common occurrence since they first met – Angel can’t escape the constant criticism. These women have a history of complaining on every trip, and after nine years, it’s frustrating. While it’s okay to voice concerns about the accommodations, one less-than-perfect trip to Nevis doesn’t erase the years of watching the Potomac group visit every budget hotel imaginable. Just thinking about Ashley’s trip to Austin brings back painful memories of them partying in unsanitary conditions.
In the end, none of this really matters. Even if Angel’s upcoming trip goes perfectly – which is unlikely – this group will still criticize her, having decided her marriage is controlling and unhappy. While they’re right to expect some compromise from Angel regarding the trip, it’s frustrating to see them repeat the same pattern of targeting a cast member with baseless rumors about her relationship. I don’t understand why being recently divorced qualifies anyone as a relationship expert, but Monique seems determined to be the group’s resident advice-giver – and I wish she’d find a different issue to focus on. Instead, I’m watching Gizelle and Ashley speculate about a marriage simply because a husband prefers spending time with his male friends over his wife’s coworkers, whom they find irritating and inexpensive. Honestly, I’d rather they just go back to making silly jokes than focus on this drama.
As expected, Gizelle is seizing the opportunity and plans to take over Angel’s trip after they return from Aspen. She’ll be sharing details next week, so stay tuned!
Cherry Blossoms
I honestly don’t care about Stacey and Chris’s past relationship, and I’m not going to. As for Monique receiving legal threats, I believe it’s a result of her returning to TV, not just the rumors themselves. I sympathize with her situation, but I think the timing is significant.
I love spending time outside, but when Angel started talking about all the lions, tigers, and bears living near her house, I was completely shocked! Apparently, people in Denver are just going about their daily lives as if they’re living in a wildlife preserve.
I’ve been getting to know Tia, and I’m starting to see that she enjoys creating drama, especially by giving Gizelle information to use against others. I’m definitely watching her closely!
