On this week’s episode of our beloved series, Prosperous Ladies in Action, the affluent females indeed took action. They liaised with their renowned designers, whose lips seemed to hold an exaggerated pout, discussing how a space mirrors a face – a notion that appears questionable given my personal experience of never having anyone sit in my room. They resorted to trickery in Skee Ball games by rushing up the ramp to secure the 1,000-point prizes, amassing enough tickets to buy Chinese hand trinkets for all their companions, despite the fact that we might want to reconsider using the term “Chinese finger traps” these days. They opted out of tennis matches so as to prevent their trainers from sweating profusely and thereby missing the opportunity to remove their shirts – an act that is nothing short of a violation against our visual sensibilities, warranting intervention from international bodies such as the Hague, the U.N., or even Judge Reinhold, who could potentially bring them to justice for this transgression.
This week, the conversations among us revolved largely around the heated exchange between Kyle and Dorit at the Viper Room from the previous episode. The altercation over Kyle’s text messages with Dorit’s ex-husband nearly escalated into a physical fight before Erika intervened to cool things down. However, Kyle’s condescending tone towards Dorit didn’t help matters, as she criticized Dorit for her continued communication with PK and questioned what else Dorit could possibly want from her. This only served to further infuriate Dorit. As a fan, I can’t wait to see how this unfolds in the next episode!
Garcelle attempts to intervene and calm the atmosphere by inquiring about Dorit’s situation with PK, implying the complications following his actions of licking an ashtray. Dorit questions Garcelle’s sincerity, asking if her question was genuine. In her confessional, Dorit suggests that Garcelle is unable to sense the room’s tension, but it seems more likely that Dorit herself was oblivious to the room’s dynamics. With her divorce in turmoil, discussing this sensitive matter might help gain empathy and support from the other women, rather than focusing on the argument with Kyle, which appears as a needless diversion.
The following day, Sutton invites Kyle and Garcelle for a tennis session, which isn’t typically popular among them. However, Kyle remains upset over the incident with Dorit. She shares that Dorit and their group had been mocking her for the prominent veins on her head, and Kyle recalls that the last instance of such ridicule was during the first season of RHOBH, when she famously said, “You’re such a fucking liar, Camille.” Yes, it was then that Kyle had an incident with her Botox, and her aesthetician is bound to receive a negative review following another such occurrence.
It appears that several issues are unfolding among this group. According to Sutton, Kyle feels uncomfortable when people challenge her authority, particularly in situations she perceives as her domain. Dorit is now taking a stand, but Kyle seems unsure about how to handle this change between them.
However, I also see where Kyle’s perspective comes from: Dorit appears to be trying to shift blame for something she believes she didn’t do wrong, although we’ll find out by the end of the episode that she indeed did. It seems to me that Kyle continues to support Mauricio’s viewpoint on this matter. She discusses her conversation with him earlier that day and he finds it odd that she can’t be friends with PK, a controversial figure in their social circle. Of course, he feels this way. He’s a man! I had to clarify to my spouse that if I dislike someone, he must feel the same, too. That’s just how relationships work, but men often don’t understand that.
In a rather intriguing turn of events, Garçelle and Sutton express their disapproval towards Kyle for texting her exes, to which Kyle counters by stating that the circumstances are distinct due to Garcelle’s infidelity ordeal. What follows next is a captivating display of deflection and stonewalling that is truly mesmerizing. I find it so absurdly unbelievable that I’d love to save their back-and-forth conversation for future reference.
“But you also had infidelity. Let’s not forget that part,” Sutton starts.
“Which part?” Kyle asks.
“Infidelity.”
“Who did?”
“You did.”
“No, I didn’t.”
“With Mo?”
“When?”
“You’ve talked about him.”
Subsequently, there’s a scene shift to her at the previous gathering, discussing his betrayal of trust and Kyle mentioning his interaction with women on Instagram, which she disapproved of. Sutton referred to that Instagram incident as what was on her mind before moving on. However, Garcelle is correct; we all sense something inappropriate occurred between them, something that transpired. It’s puzzling why Kyle continues to support this man when he intends to prolong their divorce and potentially face consequences for it someday.
In this episode, Garçelle and Sutton seemed to be targeting Kyle in a fun and entertaining way, which I found extremely enjoyable. The plot revolved around Sutton, Kyle, and Garçelle planning a surprise for Erika, who was upset because she didn’t receive a pizza party like Kyle did during her divorce proceedings. They led Erika, blindfolded, to her house and then took her to a remote Chuck E. Cheese location in the valley so secluded that even porn producers wouldn’t consider buying a property there. The whole situation was quite amusing and demonstrated the women enjoying each other’s company. The cast of RHONY would do well to observe this prank as it combines elements of good television, friendly banter, and subtle criticism.
At Chuck E. Cheese, where the topic often shifts to personal matters, Garcelle speaks candidly to Kyle, encouraging her to live authentically. “Feel free to do as you please, be who you want to be,” she says. “If you’re considering exploring a lesbian relationship, then go for it.” This statement elicits an awkward chuckle from the group, but it’s a relief to hear someone express such openness. Garcelle is essentially giving Kyle permission to be true to herself, suggesting that no one will judge her. However, it seems unclear if Kyle has fully accepted this message or is still grappling with self-discovery, as indicated by the presence of confusion and uncertainty within her.
Something unique happens at Charles Entertainment Cheese’s that truly makes this episode stand out. Earlier, we witnessed Kyle paying a visit to Boz after she underwent surgery to remove ten fibroids from her reproductive area, one of which was so large it was visible through her abdomen. (That’s quite a vivid description, I might save it for another occasion.) Just four hours later, Boz was back home. It’s baffling how the U.S. health insurance system allows such extensive surgery and the patient is discharged in time for lunch. That’s just unbelievable.
Here’s another way to put it: It was unfortunate that these women wouldn’t give Boz the space she needed to recover. Not only did Kyle and Dorit each send distinct floral arrangements (Kyle’s were more classic in style, but Dorit’s were modern, bolder, and seemed more suited to Boz), but they also visited her repeatedly to discuss their own issues. Let her be, you two. Allow this woman some time to recover peacefully!
In simpler terms, what Kyle is trying to convey is that she would never do anything malicious towards Dorit, but her actions towards other cast members in the past might suggest otherwise. For instance, some believe she drove Denise Richards away from the group due to rumors about her relationship with Brandi Glanville. Similarly, her treatment of Yolanda Hadid and allegations against Kim Richards’s property raise questions about her friendship. Over the course of 14 years, there has been a pattern of behavior that suggests Kyle may not always be the best friend.
Boz is absolutely correct in stating that Kyle and Dorit have separate friendships, each having unique perspectives on closeness. Kyle suggests Dorit rarely discloses details about her marriage, but footage shows otherwise, and Boz reminds us that Dorit shared everything during their initial encounter. It’s clear to Boz that Kyle is not being truthful. In a defensive move, Kyle refers to an instance where Dorit hugged Mauricio on the show, which some viewers assumed indicated an affair. However, it should be noted that this happened after Dorit had been robbed at gunpoint, and using such an emotional moment against her seems inappropriate.
As a cinephile, I find myself in the middle of an intriguing scenario. Boz, at her place, and Erika, at Chuck E. Cheese, both share with Kyle that Dorit is curious about what he’s been texting PK, a Teddi Mellencamp fan. Now, Boz claims this is what she heard, and I find myself aligning with Kyle – it does sound a bit far-fetched. Trust should run deep between friends, and I don’t think Dorit needs to pry into Kyle’s messages. Erika, on the other hand, clarifies that Dorit simply wants to know if Kyle receives any more texts from his ex, which seems perfectly reasonable to me. It’s a far cry from what Annalise Keating just experienced – discovering her husband’s indiscretions right in her phone.
Later, Kyle chooses to read a message from PK, commenting on the smell of a Chuck E. Cheese mascot mask, “It’s disgusting that she’s trying to give off the impression that I’m acting inappropriately.” The text, which she sent shortly after the divorce announcement, essentially conveys that she has been and will continue to be his friend. However, things take a turn for the worse as she continues reading, “I have never divulged any of your secrets and never will.
Wow! I can’t believe Kyle decided to reveal this to everyone. She seems to think this will clear her name? Oh dear, there appears to be a hole outside Chuck E. Cheese, and it looks like the very grave she just dug for herself. I have my suspicions about her defense strategy. This is more than just a generic message of support following a divorce announcement. It immediately raises a multitude of questions: What did he tell her before? Why hasn’t she spoken up until now? Does Dorit know he confided in her? What could be so damaging that she feels unable to share it openly, and why is she asking him for more details that she won’t disclose? This is exactly the scenario that we all dreaded, and here Kyle is sharing it, thinking it will set her free. I’m afraid you’re mistaken, sister. Absolutely not, not at all, not in any way, shape or form.
As a dedicated moviegoer, let me rephrase the final scene: I find myself standing by Garçelle, tending to Boz who’s unwell, when she delivers an impassioned argument to Boz about Dorit being bothersome. And honestly, I can understand why everyone seems irritated with her. Dorit, known for her loquacious nature, is now talking more than ever, and not only that, but she’s raising her voice and becoming confrontational. She’s pushing these women to the brink, making their forehead veins bulge out—that much I can see. It’s irritating, no doubt about it. But just because Dorit is annoying doesn’t mean she’s always wrong. In fact, those who are often the most accurate can also be the most aggravating.
Even though Garcelle is aware of how chaotic this situation has become, when she reveals the contents of the text to Boz, he vehemently reacts with a firm “No way!” This response reverberated beyond the pile of shoes at Boz’s entrance that are not permitted indoors; it bounced off the streets of Holland Park where Erika is scrutinizing fabric samples; it resonated over the Hollywood Hills and into the valley, past all of Kyle’s misbehaving pets; it echoed as far as Chuck E. Cheese. Its sound could be heard above the wails of sirens, whirrs of the Dance Dance Revolution machines, children demanding more tokens, parents denying their requests, and siblings squabbling over the final slice of pepperoni pizza. It was audible everywhere, and we all picked up on it. Now, Kyle is found in the parking lot, regretting her actions and wishing she could undo everything.
