The Pokemon Company And Niantic Pledge $1 Million For Los Angeles Fire Relief

Previously this year, the greater Los Angeles region suffered from destructive wildfires. Despite these events, the developers of Pokemon Go, Niantic, had promised their fans that the Pokemon Go Unova Tour – Los Angeles event would take place in February as planned. Now, Niantic and The Pokemon Company have decided to join forces and contribute a joint donation of $1 million towards the recovery efforts of Los Angeles.

According to the announcement on the official Pokemon website, Niantic and The Pokemon Company have decided to contribute a combined total of one million dollars. Niantic will donate half a million dollars to GlobalGiving’s California Wildfire Relief Fund, while The Pokemon Company will distribute the remaining half a million dollars to various nonprofit organizations that are offering assistance to those affected by the wildfires in California.

In a statement, Raquel Daniels from The Pokemon Company expressed sympathy towards those impacted by the destructive wildfires in Southern California. She also stated that they are thankful for joining forces with their partners at Niantic and GlobalGiving to lend aid during these challenging times in the greater Los Angeles region.

Niantic has given players until February 23 to request a refund for their tickets to the Pokemon Go Unova Tour in Los Angeles, which takes place at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena from February 21-23. The tour includes citywide gameplay across Los Angeles and Orange County, and it’s the first chance to encounter Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in Pokemon Go before they become available globally on March 1.

Following this announcement, Niantic has teamed up with Major League Baseball, which means Pokemon Go events will take place in baseball stadiums nationwide. Additionally, they have scheduled the upcoming Pokemon Go events for February and outlined plans leading up to the global Pokemon Go Tour: Unova event on March 1-2.
