The Pitt Actor Noah Wyle Reveals How George Clooney Changed His Life

Noah Wyle, known for his role on The Pitt, recently reminisced about his 30-year friendship with George Clooney, sharing how their connection has lasted and positively influenced his life.

During an interview with People at the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, Matthew Wyle shared a story about first meeting George Clooney over thirty years ago while working on the TV show ER. The series was a big break for both of them, and their working relationship blossomed into a decades-long friendship.

Wyle says their friendship, like any long-term connection, has changed naturally over the years. Because they both have busy lives, it’s often hard to find time to connect. But when they do, it feels like no time has passed, and they easily fall back into their old rhythm.

Brad Pitt shared that George Clooney has been a really important person in his life. He described Clooney as a consistent and helpful influence, someone whose advice has always been valuable. Pitt also said Clooney has been a great source of support throughout his career, often appearing just when he needed him most.

You know, it’s great reconnecting with people after a while. It feels like we pick up right where we left off, which is so comfortable. We built such a strong connection during that time together, it’s like we don’t even need constant updates to understand where each other is coming from. There’s just this shared history that gives everything context, and that’s really special to me.

He’s been a consistently supportive and important person in my life, always appearing when I need him most.

At the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, Morena Baccarin presented George Clooney with the Best Actor award for his work in Jay Kelly. Later, Clooney returned the favor, giving Baccarin the Best Actor award for TV for her role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in The Pitt.

Wyle explained that he and the other person often reconnect unexpectedly. They’ve made an effort to see each other whenever possible over the years, usually arranging things with very short notice. What starts as a simple dinner often turns into hours-long conversations.

It happened either in Los Angeles at the Chateau Marmont, when he was between projects, or in Vancouver while I was working and he was visiting. It was one of those unplanned, spontaneous nights – the kind that start with a quick check-in like ‘Are you in New York?’ and unexpectedly stretch on for hours.

The Pitt airs new episodes on Thursdays at 9:00 PM ET and 6:00 PM PT on HBO Max.
