In The Outer Worlds 2, everyone’s just focused on earning a living and getting by – something many players can probably relate to. A good example of this is the “Perilous Journey To The Grove” quest, which you can start fairly early in the game.

To be honest, this task is very easy. The biggest challenge you might face is just finding the right place to go next. If you’re stuck, I can help – see the instructions below.

Okay, seriously, put “Jumper” by Third Eye Blind on repeat. This story isn’t going to have a happy ending for everyone, and that song just gets it, you know? Not everyone’s going to make it through this one.

How To Complete Perilous Journey To The Grove

I stumbled across a cool side quest called ‘Perilous Journey To The Grove’ in The Outer Worlds 2, but it’s easy to miss! You really have to talk to everyone in Fairfield to even get it. Honestly, as an RPG player, I already know you should chat up every single person you meet – you always end up missing out on awesome stuff if you just rush through the main story!

We’re looking for a man named Huell Chaudry. He’s a salesman and probably wearing a pretty worn-out suit. You can find him on the map, just north of the infirmary and near the bounty terminal in town.

He’ll explain that his partner, Jackson, was trying to get the plans for a new product they hoped to sell to a lot of people, but Jackson has disappeared recently. He’ll ask you to help find him.

As long as you have this quest in your journal, a new marker will appear on the map to guide you. Find the location shown on the map above, and consider the path I took to reach it.

If you encounter a large mountain blocking your way, the best option is to go all the way around it to the right. While this might take longer, the path to the left is blocked by dangerous cliffs and is essentially impossible to pass.

When you arrive, you’ll hear shouting, and then see Jackson jump from a tall harvester. Unfortunately, he crashes and dies instantly. That’s… unsettling.

Once you’re at the top, two people will ask for your help getting down. This will start a quest called “A Final Death For Gravity,” which is worth doing. But let’s finish what we’re currently doing first.

Search the body of the jumper – you’ll discover the schematic Huell needed, and a pair of P.A.L.E. boots that you should take for A Final Death For Gravity.

After Jackson’s body is searched, just go back to Huell to tell him what happened, and you’ll finish the quest.

Quest Rewards

Although you couldn’t save his friend, Huell still wants to reward your attempt. Here’s what you’ll receive:

  • 180 XP
  • 350 Bit Cartridges (Currency)

It’s not a huge reward, admittedly. But completing this mission unlocks ‘A Final Death For Gravity,’ and you should really tackle that one next. The rewards from that mission are far more valuable, believe me.
