The announcement of an $80 price tag for The Outer Worlds 2 initially upset some fans. Microsoft has since lowered the price to $70. However, for those willing to spend more, special, high-priced Xbox controllers inspired by the game are also being released.
Microsoft is now selling special Xbox controllers featuring characters and artwork from the upcoming game, The Outer Worlds 2. What’s really cool is that you can personalize these controllers even further using the Xbox Design Lab. You can change things like the color of the D-pad and triggers, and even add rubber grips for better comfort.
Two controllers are available for purchase. The standard Xbox wireless controller costs $95, and the more advanced Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is priced at $185. The Elite controller offers extra features like customizable back paddles, adjustable thumbstick tension, and quicker trigger response. Though both are a bit pricey, their design feels fitting for the futuristic technology used by the game’s Earth Directorate.
Earlier this year, Obsidian Entertainment revealed the characters who will accompany you in The Outer Worlds 2, and confirmed that romance options won’t be included. They also shared that the team at Halo Studios provided helpful advice during development. A key feature of the sequel is the ability to seamlessly switch between playing in first-person and third-person perspectives.
The Outer Worlds 2 is launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 29th. It will be available to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on day one.
