The One Daredevil Storyline Born Again’s Showrunner Doesn’t Want To Tell

A multiversal Devil? Is that what ultimately has up its sleeve for Daredevil?? , pun intended.

With the release of Episode 4 on Disney+, tensions are high between Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a.k.a. Daredevil, and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), the Kingpin, as they clash over the future of New York City. But just how far will Marvel take the story, especially with major events like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the upcoming, massive Avengers: Doomsday multiverse war planned for December 2026?

Dario Scardapane, the showrunner for Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again and a producer/writer on The Punisher, doesn’t think Matt Murdock will be appearing in the wider Marvel multiverse anytime soon, even now that Daredevil is officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Will Daredevil Appear In Avengers: Doomsday?

According to Scardapane, Daredevil’s success comes from being a grounded, relatable hero who operates at street level. He emphasizes the importance of keeping the character rooted in New York City, the place he calls home, rather than moving the action to other, more fantastical settings.

He explained that succeeding feels really good, but he’s also concerned about keeping the show’s core tension. He believes the show works because the characters feel real, and introducing things like immortality, unlimited power, or alternate universes could lessen the impact of their struggles.

While anything is possible, Scardapane is definitely interested in exploring the origins of Daredevil and Kingpin in a prequel story.

He thinks it would be compelling to explore the dynamic between these characters in different settings. For example, he’d love to see a story about Murdock and Fisk set in New York City’s Lower East Side in the late 1960s or early 1970s – with Murdock as a rising investigator and Kingpin just starting to build his criminal organization. He feels that would be a really enjoyable take on their relationship.

Yes, yes it would be.

Season 1 and Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again are both streaming on Disney+.
