Beware – spoilers ahead for the Netflix film The Rip! The movie features Scott Adkins as Ben Affleck’s brother, a funny nod to a running joke about the actor. Adkins is known for starring in action films that feel reminiscent of classic 80s and 90s movies featuring stars like Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Michael Adkins is famous for his work in the Undisputed film series and for playing Killa Harkan in John Wick: Chapter 4. Besides starring in his own action movies, he’s appeared in popular films and shows like Netflix’s Day Shift and Doctor Strange. He recently appeared in The Rip, a new movie starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
The Rip Cast Action Star Scott Adkins As Ben Affleck’s Brother
Though he’s not in many scenes in The Rip, Scott Adkins is still an important character. He plays Del Byrne, a strict FBI agent and the brother of Ben Affleck’s character, JD. The movie doesn’t reveal their relationship right away; it’s shown through a tense and physical confrontation during an early interrogation scene.
At first, Del’s appearance seems like a playful nod to Scott Adkins’ resemblance to Ben Affleck. However, the film actually gives Del a significant role in the climax. Plus, Affleck and Adkins have great on-screen chemistry, making their scenes together really enjoyable.

Throughout Scott Adkin’s career, people have often noticed how much he looks like Ben Affleck. While they aren’t identical, they share similar facial features and physiques. This resemblance was even playfully referenced in the movie The Brothers Grimsby, where Adkins appeared as a hitman.
During a fight scene, Cohen jokingly calls Adkins’ character “the Ukrainian Ben Affleck” right before shooting him. Adkins enjoyed the joke so much he included a similar line in his movie Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday, where his character is called a “melted Ben Affleck.” The line was a hit with fans and was even used in the trailer for the 2022 sequel.
Scott Adkins Auditioned For Batman Vs Superman
Scott Adkins has some experience with superhero films – he previously worked as a stunt double for Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and played a villain in Doctor Strange. Interestingly, before Ben Affleck was chosen to play Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Adkins himself auditioned for the role, and a video of his audition later appeared online.
He faced tough competition from established actors like Josh Brolin and Ben Affleck, so his chances of landing the role were slim. However, this connection between Affleck and Scott Adkins has ultimately led to The Rip. Now, it would be great to see them star in an action-comedy as feuding brothers.
