Superhero stories usually have a simple setup: heroes fight villains, protecting everyone. While characters might sometimes find redemption, the basic conflict stays consistent. The Marvel Cinematic Universe, in particular, often introduces even greater threats to shake things up.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe often brings former rivals together to team up against bigger threats. This happens again in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, specifically in the first episode, “The Northern Star,” where Bullseye unexpectedly saves Daredevil’s life while they’re both facing off against a team led by Wilson Fisk.
It’s unclear how the relationship between these two characters will develop, especially since Bullseye still seems determined to cause trouble. But based on what we’ve seen before, this uneasy alliance likely won’t have a happy ending.
MCU Heroes & Villains That Have Worked Together
Thor & Loki

Odin, the king of Asgard, clearly preferred his older son, Thor, to his younger son, Loki. Feeling overlooked and resentful, Loki plotted to take over as king, first by scheming with the Frost Giants and later by invading Earth as seen in The Avengers. Thor repeatedly thwarted his brother’s attempts to gain power.
Loki’s time in an Asgardian prison changed him for the better. While he remained playful and a bit of a trickster, he became more willing to help his family when they needed it. In Thor: Ragnarok, he was crucial in saving the people of Asgard, arriving with a ship at the last possible moment. Sadly, his past actions led to his death in Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos killed him after Loki tried and failed to assassinate him.
Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes & Baron Zemo

Sam Wilson was hesitant to trust Bucky Barnes at first, considering Bucky’s past as a mind-controlled operative for the evil organization HYDRA. However, after getting to know each other, they formed a strong partnership and became a team capable of carrying on Captain America’s values.
Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes faced their biggest challenge in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier when they battled the Flag Smashers, a group of enhanced individuals fighting for their ideals. Needing an edge, they made the risky decision to free Baron Zemo – the villain who originally fractured the Avengers – from prison, hoping he could provide insight into their enemy. While things eventually fell apart, there was a brief period where Zemo appeared to be helping them.
The Guardians of the Galaxy & Nebula

Thanos trained his daughters, Nebula and Gamora, to be fierce warriors. However, Gamora rejected his harsh methods and eventually turned against him, joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Nebula, feeling abandoned by her sister’s choice, became a recurring enemy of the Guardians for a long time.
By the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Nebula began to realize she’d been wrong about many things. She teamed up with her sister, Gamora, to defeat Ego, and then focused on confronting their abusive father, Thanos. After Thanos was defeated and Gamora was lost, Nebula paid tribute to her sister by joining the Guardians of the Galaxy and dedicating herself to protecting others.
Spider-Man & Doctor Octopus

As a huge Spider-Man fan, I always loved the dynamic between Peter Parker and Doctor Octopus! It’s cool how their story goes way back, even before the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I remember being totally blown away by Spider-Man 2 and how Sam Raimi showed Otto Octavius getting turned into a villain with those incredible mechanical arms. Peter really tried to save his old mentor, and for a moment, it looked like he succeeded! It was heartbreaking though, because Otto ultimately sacrificed himself to destroy the machine he’d created.
Even though Otto Octavius seemed to have had a definitive exit, he reappeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home when Peter Parker’s mistake with Doctor Strange’s spell caused problems across the multiverse. The Peter Parker that Doctor Octopus knew found himself in a different universe, leading to a heartfelt reunion and a team-up to fight some villains. It was a fitting farewell to two iconic characters.
Ant-Man & MODOK

When Hank Pym first asked Scott Lang to be Ant-Man, Scott wasn’t sure he had what it took to be a hero. However, when his daughter, Cassie, was threatened, he rose to the challenge, learning to control his ability to shrink in size and ultimately defeating Darren Cross, also known as Yellowjacket. Although Cross’s suit was destroyed, seemingly killing him, that wasn’t the last anyone would see of him.
In Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a villain named MODOK threatened Scott and Cassie while they were trapped in the Quantum Realm. He initially hid his face with a mask, but it was later revealed he was Darren, physically changed after a previous battle with Scott. Despite still being angry, Darren ultimately joined forces with the heroes during the movie’s final fight against Kang, and sadly died in the process.
